Stoned Jesus Set To Release New Album In March
Ukrainian doom proggers Stoned Jesus have announced their first full-length in five years, "Father Light," set for release on 3rd March via Season of Mist. They have also unveiled their atmospheric and bluesy new single / video "Thoughts And Prayers", a fitting title given their current situation.
Lead vocalist and guitarist Igor Sydorenko comments: "I wrote these songs mostly in 2019, we worked on them through 2020, recorded them in 2021 and were ready to release them in 2022...and finally the first batch of them is coming out as Father Light in 2023! So this is neither our "pandemic" nor our "war" record, this is something I was really obsessed about many months ago – climate change, media numbness, corporations' impact, social divisions...
"But revisiting these issues years later shows that they're still important and this is still something that resonates with us – and hopefully will resonate with many other people, too. Musically I think this is our most diverse and mature record to date, but there's a good dose of old school Stoned Jesus there too!
"Anyway, enjoy this one and fingers crossed for 2024's release of 'Mother Dark' - the moodier, more personal, more experimental sister album to 'Father Light.'"
The artwork for Father Light was created by Anton Pcholkin and can be found below, together with the tracklist. More...
Conan Added To Desertfest Lineup
Four new bands have been added to the Desertfest 2017 lineup, with the festival organizers issuing this statement:
"Back once again with a hot slew of names to fuel your Desertfest cravings! We are still sitting on some very exciting headliners, but as you probably know by now: we live by the creed of 'all killer no filler.'
"I think you'll all agree that Conan is indeed a killer, if you don't they'll probably lob your head clean off. You see where this is going? Hailing from Arcata, California, White Manna is a cosmic noise outfit who will rock you straight into orbit.
"We welcome back Stoned Jesus from Kiev, a class doom act in its own right. And finally, your classic rock urges will be soothed by the sounds of supergroup Spidergawd.
"That should be plenty to tide you over until the next announcement, which will follow very soon!" More...

The long awaited Doommantia Vol. 2 anthology has been released. This compilation was put together to raise money to benefit Ed Barnard, founder of Doommantia.com. After suffering with heart problems for years, Ed was hit with astronomical hospital bills which left him homeless. Due to the lack of decent healthcare in the US, Ed has now returned to his homeland of Australia to receive the care he deserves.
To help him with living expenses, 84 bands and artists from all over the world have come together once again to ease the burden left upon Ed. Just a nominal sum (with an option to pay more) gets you over 9 hours of some of the best doom, stoner, sludge, psychedelic, and drone jams out there.
