Both are good but both had bad periods.
Star Wars prequels 1 and 2 stunk except Darth Maul.
Ep 3 made up for them though.
Trek..depends what period. And now the lines have blurred even further with Trek director taking over Wars 7.

Morally and politically? Star Trek, no question (particularly "The Next Generation"). They're an atheist, socialist society that put aside war, religion, and the acquisition of wealth to go explore the stars. I can get behind that.
As far as engaging stories, interesting characters, and a more fascinating universe? Star Wars hands down.
