W.A.S.P. Cancel Two More Shows

W.A.S.P. have cancelled two more shows on their North American tour. The first cancelled date was their August 10 show at Barrymore’s Music Hall in Ottawa, Ontario. According to a posting on W.A.S.P.'s official fan forum, no official reason has been given for the cancellation, but according to the bar owners it had to do with "the barriers in front of the stage." The tour manager reportedly claimed the barriers weren't sufficient enough to insure the band's safety and thus decided W.A.S.P. would not play.

The second cancelled date is the August 11 show at Club Infinity in Buffalo (Clarence), New York. Another posting on the band's official forum regarding the cancellation reads:

Since I was going to be driving 2 1/2 hours to see WASP, I figured that (in light of the recent cancellations) calling ahead to make sure it was still on was a good idea. They informed me that the opening bands were still going to play, but "WASP's singer is on the way to the hospital for food poisoning. He said that they are going to try to play if they can, but we won't know until after the openers go on." So I figure I'll take the gamble and run out there anyways...as I get done filling up my gas tank (this is prolly an hour after I made my original phone call) I get a hunch and call the venue again...this time they informed me that WASP has cancelled and again that Blackie was on his way to the hospital, only instead of just food poisoning the girl tells me that "...an ulcer...um...a stomach virus...err...food poisoning...something is wrong with his stomach.

i opened for wasp recently and i was told these cancelations were due to the fact that the 1/2 ton microphone set up could not be properly supported

Just what 1/2 ton microphone set up are you talking about? And while I'm asking questions, what is the name of your band that opened for wasp? Not trying to sound like a jerk, please don't take it that way. I know that wasp has had some really good bands opening for them on this tour. Place of Skulls if I'm not mistaken, is one that I can think of right off the top of my head.

Just was on the Ticketmaster site looking at who was coming to Phoenix and noticed W.A.S.P. has canceled the show that was supposed to be at Alice Cooperstown on October 11th. What is going on? I really wanted to see that show. Just to hear them do "Blind in Texas." This sucks.

I saw wasp live in dublin ( ireland ) and they were excellent during the summer. To all of those who missed them because of the cancelled shows i would advise them to go see them wherever they are because they put on a great show.
ps blackie come back to ireland soon.

BRIAN - The mega microphone is due to the actual weights used to hold it down underneath. These are stored in the center of the coach they were driving in the under storage compartments, along with the skeleton. I saw them load it at the bus where I met Blackie after the nashville show. Great show, but he seemed really distracted during the meeting, but was till nice enought to come ouu of the bus and visit for a minute.
