Children of Bodom drummer Jaska Raatikainen has posted the following brief message online via Facebook about the band completing the writing process for an upcoming album:

"Hi all. Good news! All the songs for the new album are ready. Feels like a Christmas present for COB! Next step after holidays is that I'm gonna start sweating my ass off in the studio. Cheers!"

Additional details will be announced as they become available. This new material will be the follow-up to Children of Bodom's 2011 album "Relentless Reckless Forever" (reviewed here).

The last album was garbage. The recording ruined the record, terrible bass drum, and Alexi's vocals sounded as if he were yelling through a road cone. They'll never produce anything as good as Follow the Reaper or Hatecrew Deathroll. I'll be bracing for yet another letdown.

To me COB lost it after Are You Dead Yet.
I honestly couldnt care less about their 2 previous albums. There's just nothing worth a second listen on those two.

But who knows, now that Alexi's somewhat sober and living in LA with his missus, Jaska's become a daddy, they're a different COB now so who knows what they'll come up with.

Then again, "the biggest metal band of all time" went even further down south when their leader went sober, But oh well, time will tell.

Lake Boredom.

Who will they tour with on "the opening band I only want to see but have to deal with their fans" package tour now?

Lake Boredom fans aren't that bad I guess. Funny there could be a lot of teenybopper girls. Like at a Soundgarden show

I didn't mind Bodom's last album, to be honest. Obviously not their best work, but good enough to tide me over for awhile.

I've seen this with every band. People always complain how newer albums aren't as good as earlier albums. No sh**. Bands are just more excited at that stage, they have more passion that drives them to make great f***ing records.

Then why continue to support them when they know it's going to suck, and we know it's going to suck? It's not about excitement, it's about pride. COB is at the point where they know the record will sell no matter how good or bad it is, so there's no motivation to make it awesome.

This is also why they keep making those awful Transformers movies. They know it's going to make money because the general public is made up of morons that are too dumb to know when something's bad.

I think what a lot of people are failing to realize is that a key reason why the band has been lacking musically in recent years, is that they are five biggest alcoholics in the entire world.

All their newer sh!t sounds the same to me now. Just melodeath out the a$$.
Maybe they should actually try and change up there sound. Maybe go a little more thrash, or go a little more death.
Or dare I say......Children Of Deathcore lmao. I'm sorry I just wanted to see your reaction.

The point is they need to change something. Or he needs to change his vocal style or something. Something different needs to happen. Very talented players regardless though.

If there's anything that this band needs to change musically it's to go back to their roots which is neo-classical symphonic melodic black/death metal. But, I think its become clear that will never happen.

f*** 'em, listen to Kalmah and Wintersun instead, they're way better anyways.
