New LP From DevilDriver Expected August 2013, Band Enters Studio
After playing numerous concerts around the world, American groove metal act DevilDriver recently entered Audio Hammer Studios, Florida to record the band's next piece of merciless brutality. First up is John Boecklin, who is currently laying down the drum tracks for the upcoming, yet untitled, album.
Updates from the studio are expected directly from frontman Dez Fafara. The new release is tentatively scheduled for a worldwide release in August 2013, its first for new label Napalm Records.
In other DevilDriver news, the band will commence a new co-headlining European tour with Cannibal Corpse. The Black Dahlia Murder will provide support. The tour kicks off in Oulu, Finland on February 9, 2013.

Devildriver have a groove metal element but so do Sevendust, And no one would call them groove metal. I think DD are textbook American melodic-death metal but a case could be made that they are of alt-metal stock as well.
As helpful as genre and sub-genre classification may be, I think the lines blur for a lot of people on which bands fall where. There's a lot of overlap and subjectivity to take into account.

I'll give the new album a spin. I wasn't head over heels for Beast, but I'm still willing to listen to what they offer, based on past successes.
Also, I've never really pinned down what to classify them as, sub-genre wise. However, I think RememberMetal? hit it dead on.

"post-Pantera American tradition(al) Metal".... i like it :)
I guess I don't really hear the 'melodic death' asignment, but then, everyone knows I'm pretty dyslexic when it comes to hybrid genres of developed subgenres of established primary genres etc and so forth....all that sh!t freaks me out ;)
