First Trailer For La Torre Era Queensryche Posted
Seattle based progressive rock/metal act Queensyrche posted up the first trailer for the upcoming new album and first of the Todd La Torre era. La Torre replaced former vocalist Geoff Tate after a string of bizarre events leading up to his dismissal resulting in the ongoing legal action with his former members.
In a recent post on Facebook La Torre described the new material, which is expected for release in the first half of 2013, as follows: "Trust me, you will hear a severe difference in sound, style, and writing in the new Queensryche record as compared to the last several albums."

^^^agreed.
I’ll reserve judgment till I’ve heard more but this already sounds leagues better than what Tate is doing solo.
The new guy can really hit those highs.
In a way I sort of feel bad for him the same way I feel bad for William Duvall from Alice in Chains.
People are always going to do comparisons no matter how good they are.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing.
From what I’ve read though QR fans are really getting behind the new guy the same way most fans did for William.
Always a good sign.
And the fact that Tate’s solo Kings would have been the new QR album.
Uugh.
One site called his new album career suicide lol.
Phoenix Rising might be a good title for the new QR album.
Or if they REALLY want to rub Tate’s face in it, title it Rising West LOL. zing!

Hi BrianMN, I also heard Kings & Thieves and there are a couple songs that rock and I personally didn't hear a comparison to Dedicated to Chaos. Another thing you said that threw me was Kings was supposed to be the new Queensryche album, no it wasn't. Geoff wanted to do this solo album as a New Years resolution he said started January 2nd. It was never going to be a Queensryche album.

My info was second hand but probably not that far off.
Had Tate stayed we would have gotten another Dedicated to Chaos...not good.
His new album...sorry...hated it.
After the knife incident, the spitting incident, telling the fans they suck....he needed to go.
The next QR album will put the whole thing to rest once and for all as to who was running the show.

I wanted to like the Kings and Thieves release but I too heard too much DtoC in it, not sure how B1978 doesn't but ok. The new stuff with Todd sounds great in the limited amount we've been given. No reason to think the rest isn't going to be good too but time will tell. It would be great if the results of this split were that both camps come out with something great but Tate's effort just really isn't doing it for me, it just isn't very interesting or dynamic. I realy wanted to like it, I've always liked him, but no, not good enough....and all the douchy behavior, spitting, knife pulling and what not, not helping.
