"Golden Eagle," the band's Prosthetic debut, was recorded and mixed at vocalist/guitarist Tim Sieler's home studio, The Gun Range. The album was conceived as a title first and written lyrically afterwards.

Vocalist and guitarist Luke Olson states, "Some, but not all, songs on the record are about Native American culture at the turn of the 19th Century (theft, murder, harassment, duress, war)."
