Rachel Maddow Talks Tampa Death Metal In Video Clip About Republic National Convention

Band Photo: Cannibal Corpse (?)
In a recent "Debunktion Junction" video clip covering claims about Tampa, Florida during the Republican National Convention, liberal political commentator Rachel Maddow discusses the city's status as a famous death metal gathering place.
Check out the clip below (the part about death metal bands starts at 3:50, but if you want to hear about claims of the city being the strip club capital of the U.S. start at about 2:30) which also features a brief music video segment from Deicide. You can also check out the clip over at NBCNews.com here.

Talk about a missed golden opportunity.
You'd think any, ANY of the FL bands would have crashed the RNC like that grind band did with Gingrich.
Hell, even if they would have played in an empty parking lot a half a mile away it would have generated some media buzz.
Ding dongs.

I respectfully disagree.
I thought it was unintentionally hilarious hearing her talk about death metal.
It’s ALWAYS funny listening to the suits try and verbalize what exactly it is they’re hearing.
It NEVER works, ever. They obviously don’t “get” it.
Only those of us with elite hearing abilities really get this form of music. (sarcasm…sort of.)
I love the fact that she mentions Bob Dole and Cannibal. His little tirade against them back in the day was equally comical.
Look on the bright side Oz, a lot of people listen to her. We may just get some converts here.

I'll see your respectful disagreement, and raise you a polite smile and a handshake.
The death metal thing didn't bother me so much, just the general way she came across. Then again, we don't have any political commentators that are that excitable here, so maybe it's strange to me because I'm a Johnny Foreigner.
Didn't know about Dole and Cannibal Corpse though. I knew he tried to ban Trainspotting claiming it glorified drug use, before admitting he'd never seen it. Bellend.

Am I one of the only ones who doesnt get butthurt when a political commentator/news reporter/etc etc. doesn't know anything about metal and does poorly reporting upon it? I get that its never well done, but maybe ive just grown to accept that? Hah.
I mean, it will never be fully understood in the public eye, and I understand for it isn't popular in pop culture and looked down upon alot, I mean I disagree of course, but I dont get frustrated in anyway.
Rachel Maddow, imo, did way better mentioning it than most ive seen on public television, js, politics aside and all.

^ no, "Nutbag" is a term reservable for people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck who make totally unsourced insults and attacks (like yours) and get crazy emotional and loud like menopausal attention whores, so actually she's not even close to a "nutbag" even if she is a c***y lib.

I thought it was a descent, respectal crash course on death metal. She mentioned most of the big-name, forerunners and even said CC is from New York. More research would have put Morbid Angel in there, too, and would have tied it in with the CC story, but they're from Carolina. Also, again, she missed and opportunity to mention Bob Larson and Deicide.
Above all, though, next to CC playing "Hammer Smashed Face" while Ace Ventura walzted through the pit, this was the biggest two-minute plug in the history of Florida DM.
Oh, and the stripper fact rocked, too.

Always sorta grinds my gears when they align death metal to Satanism just because of Deicide. I mean, can't you just be happy making fun of the gore and death fixation? Ha, yes anyway good to see the old guard still getting recognized.
