Slipknot To Release "Pulse Of The Maggots" On March 30th

A brand-new SLIPKNOT song, titled "Pulse of the Maggots", will be made available for download at the group's official web site beginning on March 30. This date will also mark the release of an interactive section on the web site, made whole by nine individual parts that are going to be unveiled one by one during the next few months, five before the official album release and the remaining four after May 25. The fans will be granted access to new and original stuff by SLIPKNOT, starting with skins, images of the studio recording of the album, and pictures from the shows on the Jägermeister Music Tour tour with FEAR FACTORY and CHIMAIRA. Later on, two new songs will be added to the web site: the final version of "Don't Get Close" and "Duality". By the time the record hits the shops, the web site will contain material that can only be accessed though the original CD. Fans who purchase the new CD will be able to enter exclusive areas and will be able to listen to a song NOT included on the album. They will also be given the opportunity to win various prizes, including nine signed jumpsuits used by SLIPKNOT at their live shows. In addition, owners of the new CD will be able to access nine chat rooms (one for each member of the band) where the group will communicate with the fans.
As previously reported, SLIPKNOT will release the track "Duality" as the first single from their as-yet-untitled new CD, due out on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The song will impact radio stations on May 4.

Just listened to 'pulse of the maggots' and wow, its really bad. Theres a guitar solo in it which is a first in a Slipknot song so thats kind of cool I guess even though it adds nothing to the song and doesnt sound very good. Other than the solo theres no real reason to listen to the song other than to hear just how bad it is. Its like Iowa toned down, completely uninspired and just a final effort to cash in on whatever momentum this band still has. What bothers me the most is just how full of sh** Slipknot is, here is a band that claims to be against "selling out" but here they are making an album with nothing origional on it just to sell albums and make more money. Bands like this are no better than boy bands or rappers, if youre going to make music make it for a reason, otherwise do the rest of the world a favor and stop contributing to a problem. Also, I know I have only heard one song off this album but seeing as how its a song they picked out of many songs that will be on the album, I assume that it is one of the better songs that will be on it. Safe to say Slipknot is washed up.

If anything, I'd rather have a band change their sound every cd with the possibility of it sucking than having the same sound for each cd. That is when they are selling out. When they've found what people like and continue to use it until it becomes bland. OKAY, now i know everyone has there own opinions on the song posted on their website. I will say this, Slipknot are the leaders of the underground, hardcore/thrash/death metal scene today. They are not being played on MTV, nore the Radio, so there for I see no reason to label them sell-outs. Sure a little less intense than most of thier stuff, but i thought it was bada$$. I know that my favorite heavy songs weren't the singles they put out, it was more like people=$hit,Purity,Surfacing,No Life,The Shape, and my all time favorite eyeless...so you never know, this could very well be a buildup of low toning music, into some crazy metal $hit. but you never though, i could be very wrong.....

Was Iowa the same as the 2nd album , hell no but each album as does the first , have huge merits on its own why. After listening to this type of music for going on 25years now trust me when i say if you dont like it at first just keep listening to it and slowly it will grow on you to the point youll wonder why you didnt like it at first or atleast was a little dissapointed, youll find the hooks , maybe just right away.

Well, Joey did the backing vocals, so he kinda had a hand in everything. I bet he even mixed the tracks when they were done too. I agree, Mick isn't that great. For all we know he could be the greatest guitarist ever (next to Jimi Hendrix of course), but he doesn't show it in this band. Although if he wants to show off his skills, he may have to go to a different band because Slipknot is a percussion lead band. That's mostly what you hear. Sometime, I wonder if Jim and Mick are even playing during the song. If you want to hear some good guitarists, then listen to Arch Enemy. Michael and Christopher Ammott are some of the best people I've ever heard. They even do songs where it's just them playing and it sounds so awesome. Their solos are some of the best I've ever heard.
