The guitar solo really stuck out... I'm still not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. It honestly didn't sound like a Meshuggah guitar solo to me.
Overall, I thought the song was pretty good - 4 skulls.
Sounds similar to 'Nothing'.

And to think I was excited about "Sinews".

Drum_Junkie beat me to the punch. I was going to say -very- 'Nothing' and "check out the human-sounding guitar solo!"... rather than the digital/computerized A.I. or utterly alien sounding solos that we've (somehow) come to expect.

If 'Koloss' boasts one or two lightening fast tracks and several experimental odd ducks and I'll be a shamefully giddy fanboy.

Indeed. There aren't many bands where I actually find myself getting irritable for the release date, but Meshuggah is one of them.

Same old, same old. At least they didn't wuss out like Opeth and try to turn into Porcupine Tree.

I don't understand why anyone likes this band. Sure, they are technical, but in the end it really is boring music

@ #7: Not meaning to be overly critical, but you sound like my two daughters. "We're bored.... there's nothing to do....*sighs and slumps shoulders*" When they say that, I'll rattle off about 4 or 5 things that they could be doing instead of laying around complaining.

Your comment suggests that you listened to it once, and didn't find whatever it was that you were expecting to hear, so you didn't listen to what is really there in order to give it an honest critique.

I'm so upset... I just listened to 'Sinews' and it's the first Meshuggah song I can say I really don't like! :( :( :( That one main riff just sounds like they heard a Hardcore band and were like "Wait- guys, wait - what if... what if the breakdown was the whole song! Yeah?? Yeah!!"

First impression after first listen.

@Psythe Definitely not the best offering for a first impression. "Do Not Look Down" would have been a far better choice.

@Drum_Junkie and BodomFan Meshuggah definitely aren't for everyone. Some people don't have the patience and for others there's just a conflict of taste. I remember a similar phenomenon with Tool's fans and non-fans. Non-fans were/are baffled and fans are ready to immolate themselves for Maynard Keenan.... I wonder what they're up to. Whatever it is, I hope it's less retread than "10K Days".
