BrokenFace, the thing about Mastodon is they've never been exactly Metal Metal, you know? No Phil Anselmo "Scream till your ears bleed" stuff.
I understand what you mean though; every new Mastodon album has been mellower than the previous one.
But my opinion is, Mastodon can do whatever the hell they want if they're releasing music this great. I absolutely love this band.
Anyone in need of the feel of "security" in metal, Dr Wolf recommends Slayer. Over 25 years in the meter and they're still as evil as they ever were ;)
