Sonata Arctica keyboardist Henrik Klingenberg was recently interviewed by Rock Overdose (Greece), in which he revealed some information on the direction of the next Sonata Arctica Release. The following Q&A represents an excerpt from that interview:
Q: So you are in the studio right now?
A: "We're going into the studio next month. We have one week of rehearsals left. We pretty much know the songs already."
Q: I suppose you know the direction of the album. Will it be similar to the previous one?
A: "No. I think this one will be a bit different from anything we've done before. It's not going to be so progressive as the two last ones were. That's for sure. Also I think this one will be more hard rock than our other works. It's hard to tell. I know how it will sound but it's hard to describe it."
Q: So it will not be so metal like the previous releases. It will be more hard rock?
A: "Well yeah. Of course it's going to be metal. It's not going to be like BON JOVI or something like that."
Q: Will you use symphonic elements?
A: "Well, probably not. We tried that on the previous album and it worked really well but the sound for this album doesn't really need symphonic elements."
Q: When are you planning to release the new album?
A: "Well it should be out before the summer of 2012. Somewhere around April or May."

I gave up on this band after Unia came out and this one is going to be even softer. Maybe they won't sound like Bon Jovi but I'd say like Motley Crue.
