American thrash metal legends Testament have revealed that the name of their forthcoming new studio album, the follow up to 2008's hugely successful, "The Formation Of Damnation," will be "The Dark Roots Of Earth." The album is currently being recorded with producer Andy Sneap (the Sabbat guitarist who has also produced for the likes of Megadeth, Onslaught and Arch Enemy) and is expected to be released this October through Nuclear Blast Records.

In other news, Testament frontman Chuck Billy revealed in a recent interview that the band is planning to embark on a tour this year with three other big names of American thrash, namely Anthrax, Death Angel, and Overkill. You can check out the interview below. More details on this tour will be revealed as soon as they become available.

I've been into Testy since The Legacy....yes I'm that old, zip it.
I didn't care too much for "Formation" I hope this one has a little more variety. Billy still has and will always have one of the best voices in metal.
I like the title of the new one, now where are the samples.....???
I'm not a patient geezer...........samples.......now.

I'm f***in' psyched about the new album. I think it'll be one hell of a timeless classic. I'm also psyched about that tour with Anthrax, Death Angel and Overkill.

I'd see the Anthrax/Overkill tour if Testament manages to get the record out fast but I doubt it. I won't go for a hit/standards list. On the other hand if Anthrax can pull off the impossible and produce a good album..

testament along with slayer are greatest metal bands
alive….metallica last 4 albums are bad , cant compare
to testament formation…becuse formation of damnatiion
is better in terms of talent and Quality of music ,
atmosphere of pure thrash that is something that
"Death magnetic" dont have at all.

New testament will be even better album than last
one..hope testament release it soon is done.
