Wow, shows you right there that even despite the winds of opposition Morbid Angel has some serious clout as a big name.

well spoken Cynic. it's strange that even in times of horrific album sales, underground bands can still make it onto the Billboard charts. goes to show that the great bands will eventually get recognized

METAL213, it's probably cos only the top 10 in the Billboard 200 sell millions, the ones till about #100 position sell thousands... and the rest...
If your albums sells 100 copies these days, you're in Top 200! ;)

I admit to being a long time MA fan. First few listens of this one were with mixed feelings, but it's now starting to gel and I am enjoying ALL of it.

I agree with METAL213, Morbid Angel have a big legion of fans and those fans would have bought this regardless of the reviews.

While not a 'typical' MA release, still pretty good....but then again...what is a typical MA release?

I'm not going to whine here to much as that's all I've done since I heard the song titles, then those atrocious monstrosities themselves (songs).
I knew this album would storm out the gate by all the loyal Morbid fans...but where will Illud be a month from now when the shock has finally settled in?
One of two things will happen...the album will drop off the radar quicker than....I don't even know what.
Or Morbid will somehow stay on the charts and that will be the end of the band as I knew it.
What I find intriguing is Vincent is still involved with Sandoval with Terrorizer.....note to Pete.....KEEP HIM ON BASS ONLY!!!
No vocals.
No songwriting.
NOTHING.
HE FVCKED UP MORBID ENOUGH AS IT IS.
Ok, I guess I'm not done whining. :)

I havent even bought it yet. And im one of those people who bought Altars on cassette in early 90. Has a couple good songs, but the bad far outweighs the good. Will be interesting to see how much of this record they play when they decide to tour the US.

No doubt they have a large following and after a 6 year wait, that following is probably starving for something new. Whether or not those sales equal satisfied fans is another matter. Reminds me of the situation with most Metallica albums since the black album actually.
