Bloody-Disgusting.com is reporting that Korn has been tapped to record a theme song for the upcoming new Silent Hill game "Silent Hill: Downpour." While Korn fans may be rejoicing, many followers of the series are less than pleased, with a petition already posted online begging Konami to go with any other band or composer. The petition can be found here, and you can check out a trailer for the game below.

im so stoked for this game. but, if I had to hear Korn's music throughout it or even just for the intro, it would put a dent in the game's insanely creepy and dark atmosphere for sure

Wouldnt the creepy and dark nature of (some) of Korns music be a bonus for the game? When at their best, they do write some good tunes, but those days are few and far between recently.

I dont see them doing any harm.. Korn could right a good creepy song for this game.. all they have to do is try like they used to. songs like sean olsen, camel song, i can remember, lead the parade are all pretty good & creepy to me. so i think they can pull it off

As a Silent Hill fan and likely an owner of this game, i have mixed feelings about it and ALMOST signed the petition, i may still. Korn's eerieness (when there was any) came from Jonathan Davis and Brian Head Welch. IMO Korn without Head is 90% sh**. On the other hand JD's solo acts (queen of the damned) could have a chance of being something interesting. Unfortunately its neither of those. Its hard enough knowing Akira isnt involved in this project but i'd rather see a something as ridiculus as Danny Elfman doing Silent Hill than Korn as it is now.

This is f***ing bullsh**. I hate new Korn as much as these guys, but I'm pretty sure they have the capabilities to write a creepy-ass song. I mean, just listen to 'Kill you', 'Lost', 'Pretty', 'Hey Daddy', 'Camel Song', 'Mr.Rogers', 'Dead Bodies Everywhere', 'Helmet In A Bush' and pretty much 75% of their 90's material and tell me that's not eerie as f***. In fact, some of their material rivals even bands like Acid Bath in terms of that horrific, twisted sound. That petitioner is probably just a n00b who's listened to Twisted Transistor and thinks that's what Korn is all about and all these other guys who signed it are doing it because of stuff they've read on forums or are trying to be cool, 'cause hating on Korn is cool, right? What a bunch of wankers. And I thought I was the biggest basement-dwelling, video game nerd.

Should of had a band that could make a creepy tune, maybe like Tool. Personally I think this is a terrible idea. I'm still stoked for this game though!

Hey Fluckey...have you ever played a Silent Hill game in your life? The music done in the entire franchise of Silent Hill sets the tone for its dark and desturbing story and game play. Its a horror based game and i agree and will sign the petition for hopes that Konami can hopefully get Akira back involved in the game. Now, with that said i am a Fan of Korn's music but dont think their music belongs in this awesome Franchise.

Ya know.....just cause Korn's doing the soundtrack doesn't mean it's gonna sound like them.......
Between The Buried And Me is an awesome band, but Toms solo sh!t sounds nothing like BTBAM. So it could be something like that. Korn's experimented with a lot of different sh!t, so just because they're doing it doesn't mean the dark tone is gonna be lost.

Plus.......it'd be nice to find out if anyone in Korn has even played Silent Hill because that'd help a lot. Then at least we'd know they're fans and hopefully that'd help assure people they'd do a decent job. Honestly I could give a sh!t I'll still get the game. Don't know why everyone's whining (well I do know why but still). They should have waited and then announced it with an actual track from the game they did then everyone could better judge cause we'd all know then if it's gonna suck or not.
Either way like I said don't care still gonna get the game.

Konami, what's got into you people out there. Don't you see. Your titles were worshipped because they were highly sophisticated, targeting educated people. Try to be loyal to the series so the fans will be loyal to you. Stick to your level. Recruiting these junky clowns will ruin the game. I've always loved the Japanese developers. They are full of sense and sensiblity. Unlike the western dudes.

Korn is just doing the theme song they aren't handling the entire games soundtrack that would be Daniel Licht who has been in charge of The Dexter series. SO you whiners that whining about Korn being in one song of the entire game that you can ignore are being moronic.

Even if its only the theme song, the mere sound of korn (no matter how eerie they can be) just does not fit with the silent hill franchise and its past music. Im not hating on korn by all means. I wish yamaoka had stayed for this one!

I see alot of people flippin' their sh** over this, and all I have to say is this...haters, how about you actually wait to hear the song before b****ing about it! Also, no one EVER pays attention to internet petitions so you're just wasting your efforts, grow up like the rest of us who are giving this a chance!
