Dimmu Borgir Footage Available From Live Orchestra Performance

Band Photo: Dimmu Borgir (?)
This past Saturday, May 28th 2011, Norwegian symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir lived up to its genre tag with a live concert that featured both a 53 piece orchestra, and a 30 piece choir.
Both the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Schola Cantorum Choir appeared on the band's most recent album "Abrahadabra" (reviewed here). The event was noticeably documented on several cameras, leading one to believe a DVD may be released in the future.
Behind the scenes photos from the event can be seen on the band's Facebook page, and video footage of the song "Gateways" can be seen below.

^ would have to agree with that.
I'm no Dimmu fan at all, but when I read their guitarist bragging about how they've been practicing for this show and playing with an orchestra "for few years now" plus slagging off Metallica's S&M along the way (I love that recording btw, both, the 2cd and the dvd), I got interested.
I know I know, it's hard to tell what it really sounded like based on this clip, but... I wasn't that impressed. Didn't look like the audience was either.
Well, what do I know... I don't even understand why the orchestra was in the left, Dimmu in the center and the choir on the right hand side. Makes no sense to me, acoustically speaking. The Metallica / SFSO combo made sense. This doesn't.
Then again, like I said, What do I know.

This was the first thread I commented on this morning. Wonder why my comment isn't there? Anyway, I think it's fvcking awesome. They've always had a symphonic sound and it was just a matter of time until they went this route. I'd buy the DVD just because i'm a symphony and metal buff. Put the 2 together and I don't see how you can go wrong considering Dimmu's soundscape. Just one man's opinion. Make up??? Doesn't make or break the musician IMO. As long as you're not doing it to cover for the lack of talent or ability i'm cool with it, but then again I smear feces.

The "clown paint" is part of their theatrics, most black metal bands wear it. That chick ruins everything, she killed any chance that their record had at being great.
I hope they played a variety of songs as most from Abrahadabra were average at best. Blessings upon the Throne of Tyranny, now that's a fvcking song.

The "clown paint" is exactly why everyone laughed black metal off to begin with.
Theatrics?
Let's leave that to Kiss, King D and hell, I'll even throw Immortal in there since they know how to work the image without trying to scare people.
Sorry, it's not frightening in any context.
I'm not saying it ruins the music but honestly?
You couldn't pay me enough to get up there with face paint while screaming like my three year old cousin having a tantrum.
SAAAAAAATAAAAAAANNNNN...........WAHHHHHHHH!!!!
LOL.

So a feature on ONE track ruined the album? Are you serious? Give your head a shake. I'm not a big fan of her on that track either but it certainly doesn't ruin the album. Abrahadabra was a masterpeice! Maybe it's not to your musical tastes but it's pretty fvcking creative if you ask me. I enjoyed it more than any of their previous efforts (although In Sorte Diaboli was pretty sick too).

How on Earth do the choir and orchestra keep from laughing at the bozos running around in clown paint?
I made it through the video till the screechy bag with the white hair started in.
God I can’t stand her.
Keep in mind I love Dimmu but so many of these bands are pretty embarrassing live.
The face paint is something Kiss and King Diamond can pull off but that’s it.
Sorry, back to Annette…..I wish ICS would have stormed out and drop kicked her off the stage.
That’s one dvd I’d buy.
