Bands Comment On Upcoming Summer Slaughter Tour
Metal Blade Records heavyweights The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, and Six Feet Under are all confirmed to head out on the 5th annual Summer Slaughter Tour, presented by ESP Guitars and Indie Merch Store, which runs from July 21st through August 21st. Headlining the tour this summer is none other than Detroit MI's The Black Dahlia Murder with Knoxville, TN's Whitechapel co-headlining the bill. Rounding out what is sure to be one of the summer's heaviest tours is Darkest Hour, Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, As Blood Runs Black, Oceano, Fleshgod Apocalypse, in addition to a special halftime performance by Powerglove.
What makes the 5th installment of Summer Slaughter so special is that the folks behind the tour are giving fans the opportunity to pick the band that will open the tour. Fans will get to pick from a list of 10 bands and place their vote on the tour's Facebook page here (deadline is April 11th).
Trevor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder commented, "After months in secrecy, it brings us great pleasure to finally reveal our headlining status for this year's Summer Slaughter festivities. It is a great honor to be asked to play with so many talented bands… we had a killer time last round and this year will be no exception. Beers bongs will be had, horns will fly, and legions of metal fans will be left devastated! Bring your daughter to the slaughter… or something."
"We are excited to be a part of this year's Summer Slaughter tour. The past two years we have done big outside festival summer tours so it will be awesome to make it more intimate this summer and do a tour like Summer Slaughter. In 2008 we opened Summer Slaughter and now just 3 years later we will be back playing alongside some great bands and friends. I couldn't think of a more perfect way to return to the Summer Slaughter tour!" adds Alex Wade of Whitechapel.
Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under commented, "We're honored to have the opportunity to share the stage this summer with the best of the best in metal today…all that attend the 5th annual Summer Slaughter Tour will be left six feet under!"

Every Summer Slaughter is like this this.
at best, 3 or 4 bands you REALLY wanna see, and the rest is Deathcore or one or two random bands that arent that bad.
I went two years back for Origin, Necrophagist, and Suffocation. I didnt mind that Dying Fetus or Darkest Hour were there either, but I'm not really a fan of either. THE WHOLE REST OF THE CONCERT WAS DEATHCORE. I mistook Origin for Born of Osirus at first because my brain had turned to mush by the time they came on. Luckily the song Wrath of Vishnu woke me from it.
After the Burial was a nice surprise there though.
This year I wanna see Black Dahlia Murder, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and I dont mind Darkest hour, Dying fetus, and Six Feet under. f*** EVERYTHING ELSE.
Unless Augury or Revocation win the opening band contest(there are ten bands on the list) I'm not going.

I had high hopes this year for Summer Slaughter after last years killer headliner of Decapitated. Really was an awesome show, lotta different styles of metal. Sure some bands on it sucked, but that means a good beer break before running back out there. But sadly, The Black Dahlia Murder and Whitechapel as 2011 headliners. Surely I was disapointed, but then the supporters were even worse. Comon, a HUGE deathcore tour, just what we need. Shame on this years bill, hopefully next year we'll get back to REAL metal bands rather then SH!T bands.

LMFAO!!!! @ ironman
i MIGHT actually go to this. i'll finally catch darkest hour live along with black dahlia murder too.
that's right FAN. i got into black dahlia u raging homofobe.
i'll just have to check out Six Feet Under, Dying Fetus, and Fleshgod Apocalypse. oceano and as blood runs black aren't THAT terrible tho lol
fvck whitecouple and powerglove (sounds sexual, but NOT good)
i've been checking out the bands on that list to be the opener. i alrdy like within the ruins and i voted for them, along with volumes too. i'm not too fond of many of the death metal bands, nor conducting from the grave, but the contortionist is pretty good. rings of saturn is badass for a (experimental/technical?) deathcore. and i hate structures for being a slower meshuggah clone.

i don't think there's been enough b****ing (out of just 13 comments? not counting this one, obviously) for ur idiotic post (from a douche-bag-named-non-user anyways) to be justified. now, GTFO. but enjoy summer slaughter tho. hope u get kicked in the face by a female hardcore dancer.

Hah good N Head. This years Slaughter seems a little thinner than years past but ill still go. I haven't seen SFU since Alan West was in the band. 12 or 13 years ago. Barnes is a legend so I want to see em. I wish I could put this tour together cause I'd throw on Obituary;Deicide;and a bunch of Swede DMers like Entombed;Dismember;Bloodbath etc.

Where are the good metal festivals in the U.S.? It seems like Europe puts together better bills year in and year out. Chris Barnes is well past his prime and most all of these bands are terrible.
If this is the best in metal then I don't want to be a metalhead lol.
Now Playing: "April Ethereal" by Opeth

PorcupineTreeFan...there really are no outstanding metal festivals in the US. I would kill to take a month in the summer and hit up some of the Euro festivals. Even Roadburn had a pretty killer line up this year if your into doom. Oh, speaking of, if you can still vote for the Summer Slaughter opener vote for Black Pyramid. They will blow every one of those bands off the stage while being so out of place on that tour.
