Amalgama Streaming New EP "Amethyst" Online
Amalgama has issued the following update about streaming the band's new EP "Amethyst" online:
"We've been vicious in our teasing these last few months, putting out little bits and pieces of the new EP for you to listen to, but it's finally here in full for your listening enjoyment. Head over to our Myspace player now and the entire 4 track Amethyst EP is up and available for streaming in its entirety. Mastering was completed a few weeks ago by our good friend Steve Goldman at 4 Legs Records (check him out) and they came back absolutely thunderous. When we all cranked the tracks for the first time we were blown away, even more so from the initial killer mixes from our producer Spomer which came back to us.
"Take the time to listen to all 4 tracks back to back to back to back. John took serious time on the lyrics and channeled a lot of energy and passion into crafting some serious passages and vocalizing them from his trusty notebook onto 'tape.' Ray also put a lot of time into getting his extended solo passages on 'Forsaken Soldiers' and 'Darkest Before Dawn' just right, and he slayed us each time he sat down to do his takes. All the time we put into getting the foundations of these songs down to tape with Justin and Sean on the drums and bass respectively paid off big time. We ended up with one fat-sounding record. The pressed discs will be available soon via CDbaby and will be on iTunes very shortly. We also want to send a special thank you out to former Amalgama lead guitarist Nate Schied for laying down a wicked solo on the title track Amethyst. Absolutely killed it.
"I can't imagine what our next round of recordings will sound like, especially with the new tunes we have been hammering away at for the last few weeks. These are mean sounding bastards of songs, full of energy and power. So, enjoy. As always, we enjoy your feedback via email or on the Facebook page."
