A Perfect Circle Returns From Hiatus, Plans Shows and TV Appearance

Band Photo: Tool (?)
A Perfect Circle has returned from their self-imposed hiatus. The band, led by Maynard James Keenan (Tool, Puscifer) and Billy Howerdel (Ashes Divide), will embark on a five-city tour this fall (dates and ticket on-sale information will be announced shortly).
Shows in Phoenix (Marquee Theatre), Los Angeles (Avalon), Seattle (Showbox at The Market) and San Francisco (The Fillmore) will be three-night stops with each night featuring one of A Perfect Circle’s three albums in its entirety (Mer de Noms, Thirteenth Step and eMOTIVe). Las Vegas (The Pearl) will be a two-night outing (Mer de Noms and Thirteenth Step).
The band will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Oct. 27.
A Perfect Circle has sold four million records in the U.S. After the band announced their hiatus in 2005, Keenan focused on Tool, launched the multimedia project Puscifer and worked on his burgeoning Arizona vineyards. Howerdel went on to form Ashes Divide who released their debut album, Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright, in 2008.

I've heard that Maynard and Billy have been plinking away at material for a couple years now, so we might be getting an album/ep sooner rather than later....which would mean that after these performances, some form of release and a tour to support said release the timing will be right for the next Tool release...Hopefully more impressive than the mild letdown of "10,000 Days". I hope they record a studio version of the "Lovesong/Diary of a Madman" hybrid...

everything about this article just gave me a "metal chubby" lol i f***in' love apc, and dare i say, MORE than tool, but obviously, i love tool also. ashes divide is a bit too much like apc, but awesome nonetheless. i would literally kill to see apc but only rape for tool, and kidnap for ashes divide. wish they would make a stop near me =(

NH, you like APC > Tool????? Fair enough and to each his own but I'd love to hear the reasoning behind that one for sure. Even more crazy is how you'd rather see APC than Tool live!!! I mean god damn dude... Tool has to be THE best live act. Ever. Sounds to me like you need to analyze Tool a bit closer ;) I didn't fully understand or appreciate what Tool was all about until I saw them live and read their book...and now for me there's just no other band that even comes close to satisfying me like Tool. IMO they're the total package...great musicianship, great vocals, great lyrics/message, great live show...*wishes he was seeing Tool right now* :/

I'd actually be more excited to hear a new APC album over a new Tool album. I like both bands, but prefer APC in any case.
I don't know... I get the feeling that perhaps Tool is history. I hope not, but starting to get the idea. I remember Maynard saying something about a new Tool album back in late 2008, saying things were progressing good on that side. Well, here we are, Sept. 2010 and not a word of a new Tool album.
And yes, I know that by the usual Tool album schedule the new one should probably appear in 2011 or 12. But still.

i NVR said i would see apc live over tool, ES, just that i would f***ing love it more lmao i love tool man. i have that pic of ur icon as a patch on my bookbag all thru out my entire high skool yr.'s. after seeing tool, i would die happily, only to return from the dead as a zombie to watch apc and jizz myself. then smear that jizz on a hott girl seeing puscifer. ALL of maynard's stuff is amazing. i just love apc's experimental, progressive mellow, alternative rock sound. and puscifer to me, was just a breath of fresh air man. as is wes borland's black light burns. amazing btw. oh, and apc having josh freese is a big plus to me =P
i 100% agree with u wolfie!! no more apc since '04, what gives?? i'm starving here!!

The only problem I have with maynard, is the fact that when he puts out an album, it only has like 5 good songs. Then the rest of the album is a bunch of noise and bullsh**! Ya know what i mean? I love tool, but they need to give us our moneys worth. Put out a cd with at least ten songs, that are actually songs!!!

^Ive been a fan of Tool since they came out with undertow in 93! Have all their albums, seen them live twice. So I think Im fan enough to speak my mind, and exactly what is it that I dont understand? Im just stating the fact that I wish they would put more songs on their albums. I dont want to hear a 11 minutes of some weird spooky music, with different sounds popping in and out. I wanna hear more "songs" like prison sex, sober, stinkfist, ect. More vocals from maynard. But I guess I just dont understand

Korndogg: I dont agree with your assessment of Wings/10,000 Days (I like it) and Lost Keys (it's actually the intro to Rosetta Stoned) but I know what you mean. Thankfully, there isnt too much noise and bullsh** on most of their albums (with the exception of Aenima!), and the rest is totally killer!
And on the topic of the mighty APC, I'm f***ing stoked they're back. Who knows, they might even make it down here.

Korndogg...I have no qualms with you and wish no disrespect but this has to be the most ignorant statement I've ever heard regarding Tool:
"I love tool, but they need to give us our moneys worth"
Tool is one of MAYBE 5 bands I would gladly give my money to.... no matter what. Each instrumental or "noise" song as you put it has a place and serves a purpose. I'm also amazed at your lumping of wings for marie/10,000 days into the category of "dark spooky noise" lmao did you even listen to them? :/
Having said all of that...I half agree with the point you're trying to make. More Maynard can never hurt any situation.

^^^ exactly. that's why i rlly like puscifer. besides that it's industrial rock. which i love. obviously.
anyone have the aMotion bonus cd, which have remixes of the outsider, the hollow, 3 libras, etc.?? i love it!! my fav.'s "the hollow (constantly consuming)", even tho it's just the woman singing.

Korndogg, I think you're 100% right on Tool. Fully agreed.
I've got the full Tool catalog, and when I recently made my own kind of Tool "The Best of" collection, I was a bit suprised how few all-around great actual tracks they have.
I know I know, they say about Tool albums - "You don't listen to them, you experience them". But still...

Tool...is a Tool. I would strongly advise (if you like those "few" Tool songs) reading the book...almost every song is encoded and doesn't follow a literal surface meaning. (I'm sure you're at least aware of that fact, I know you're not an idiot Wolf) For example: the song Stinkfist..."fingers deep inside the border line"
All indications suggest on the surface that the song is about anal fisting but if you analyze deep it follows the same tone of the entire Aenima album...in a nut shell evolution. Ridding the world of all the cancers (religion, politics, hollywood etc.) to evolve as a species. One of the few literal songs Tool has is the title track Aenima in which Maynard is saying the same..."mom's gonna fix it all soon, mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be."
The only thing I will agree with about Tool...which I find to be a VERY good thing about the band compared to a few people posting here...is that not all songs are catchy up tempo hits. A lot of them are very slow and dark...and for good reason. If you're not vibing with those tracks...the likely scenario is that they have no relevance or relation to you and your life. Which is fine...and to each his own...but IMO they have more than just a few good all around songs. It's easier to list the songs like "LA Municipal Court" and "Cesaro Summability" that you hurriedly skip past than it is to list out all the great ones. :p

Yeah I think it will definately change your opinion dude. Why? Well at first I only liked maybe 5 Tool songs...because I never put in the time or effort to try and figure out what any of the songs meant. And when I was first intriduced to Tool I was into way heavier more brutal types of music (naturally, I had no patience at the time...lol) so like yourself I only appreciated those few songs. However, everything changed for me once I saw them live this year. After that show...and after the book as well...I looked at Tool (and to be honest life itself) in an entirely different way. The more you listen to Tool the more you discover that's hidden waiting for you. :)

Hey Korndog hes right i listen to at least one tool album every other day and there are sounds and parts in a song i never heard b4 and try looking up the names of songs if you dont know them already then apply that to the context of how he is saying it in the song and how hes using it, every word tool uses always has 2 meanings

^ Ill definetly give another listen to most the songs I bypass on the albums. Given you guys seem to be so passionate about it, I must be missing something. I mean I have always loved Tool, since I was in high school 12 years ago. They are unbelievable live. I might have been a little harsh on the "giving us our moneys worth". I guess I just get p***ed when most bands seem to waste space on albums with nothing. But ill give her another try. Any suggestions?

Learn something new everyday the legendary "complex & strange" band TOOL are also in the band "A Perfect Circle" - both bands are hell of amazing and whoever does the Lead vocals, what a Voice! Awesome, beautiful singing range. Their heavy and oddly strange in a good way, just like MASTODON I like them too. Thanks, for the update on TOOL & A PERFECT CIRCLE....'what a nice surprise!

#50 and #52, agreed my friends!
NH, not sure brother...I would sure like to sink my teeth into some new Gojira right about now though. :D
Wolf, fair enough man if you think it's filler and they're not an awesome band I won't bother trying to convince you otherwise. If you get Tool...they're a lot more than just good. They're much more than great musicians...they're incredibly sneaky and intelligent. Copious amounts of occult stuff hidden within their work as well. There IS a reason Tool albums take 5 years to produce. :p

genious! im surprised more bands dont follow suit, its almost like good dope. they keep you waiting waiting and then hit you with a huge dose then its gone, and all that remains is a cd. ive seen both bands in small and big venues, well worth the coin to catch any of these 2 acts.
