Actually, since Lars Ulrich and Joey Jordison are often listed at the top of the rankings for American metal drummers in most official polls, THAT is why I compared Yoshiki to them. He is FAR better than either could even hope to be, and they're what is currently upheld as "drummers" in the US.
Give me your personal favorite drummer and I'll tell you whether Yoshiki is better, how about that??? ;)
Don't trust my word for it: look up "Yoshiki drum solo On The Verge Of Destruction" or "Yoshiki drum solo 8/15/10 Yokohama." You will be impressed.... this man can drum.

f***ING KICKASS. Sign me up for LA if tickets are still available.... anyone who hasn't seen this band before and likes hard rock/gothic rock/heavy metal needs to give them a chance. Ignore the "weeaboos" and "fangirlies," despite attracting such absolutely pisspoor fans, the band itself is incredibly talented and deserves every bit of good press it's gotten in the US so far.
Yoshiki can drum better than Joey Jordison or Lars Ulrich, by the way.
