Florida metallers The Absence have posted a video clip online of the winner of their shred contest, which can be viewed below. The band also commented on the video:

"We are proud to announce the winner of the contest! We also would like to thank all the people who participated in the contest. There were alot of great leads that we had to choose from and it was exciting to see all the different ideas people came up with. We hope to do something similar to this in the future."

I want to know what song this is gonna be on. the rhythm section sounds badass.

While I do think this is kinda lazy for them to just get somebody else to write a cool solo for them, it's still a cool idea to begin with, and now whoever that guy is might get some recognition among bands looking for a guitarist, so win win for both parties.

A band can only ask for their fans to write something for em once and that's pretty cool. It's a great way for the fans to get even more personally involved and interested. Good job.
