Alaskan/San Diego metal band DOWNSPELL are wrappin' up production on their new album. After losing the recording of their eagerly anticipated new album in the last mixing stages, Downspell regrouped and are in the last stages of polishing the album. But as guitarist Jake Phillips says "anytime you're that mad, let down, frustrated, depressed, etc... It usually leads to great fucking tunes!" Jake also added "we had A LOT of time to rework some songs that we had issues with and also get a few of the guest musicians back on the second take. Due to everyones touring/personal schedules we lost a few key guests that unfortunately couldn't redo their parts. But we still got RANDY BLYTHE of Lamb of God and also BOBBY FERRY from 16 (Relapse Records) to get in there and they definitely kicked some serious ass contributing."
The album is tentatively titled "7 Dead, 6 Wounded" and is set to be released before the holidays. KEVIN SHARPE from the band BRUTAL TRUTH will be creating the artwork for the album. The band plans to release it with a 7" that includes a live version of the unreleased track "Animus" along with another yet to be determined track.
The band further comments, "We may be wounded, but we are definitely NOT dead. It will take much more than a few idiots and non-devotee's to take us down! We've been doing this shit for way to long to call it quits. It really is just fule to fire. This bullshit has kept us off the stage for a while and I will say this, it's gonna be a fucking bloodbath when we get back up there! A year and a half of penned up aggression in 6 guys that don't handle emotions well, yeah it's gonna be a bloodbath, period."
