Teenager Seriously Injured At Sonisphere In Knebworth, U.K.

The Welwyn & Hatfield Times has reported that a teenage boy has been hospitalized after an accident at the Sonisphere festival in Knebworth, U.K. An excerpt from the article follows.

A boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a freak accident at the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth.

The 15-year-old lad was thrown from a fairground ride in the grounds of Knebworth House, where the festival is taking place.

Paramedics raced to the scene, shortly before 2.30pm yesterday (Saturday). Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who was at the concert, said: "The young man sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and our paramedics at the venue worked rapidly to treat and stabilise him. Following this, he was rushed to an awaiting trauma team at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage."

I too wish all the best....but as a rule of thumb for myself, I don't do rides at state fairs..etc....just ones at established places like Disney, Busch gardens...etc.

Fairs are shady...i was nearly thrown from a Pirate Ship ride b/c it wasn't to max capacity and I was just sliding around in the seat. If you recall, they are open on the sides and I was literally holding on for life to the lap bars which don't contain you laterally.

I only survived b/c I'm freakishly strong...j/k about the freak...the above actually happened.

In all seriousness, I'm a father and couldn't go on if my child was killed...hopefully he pulls through.

Also, apparantly the ride was found to have structural damage and shouldnt of been running at all. Many other people have come forward to say they also had difficulty with the harnesses holding them in. I dont understand how the ride was up and running? Surely this type of machinary should be checked and then given the thumbs up before anyone from the public is allowed on them.
