Sky Eats Airplane Covers Limp Bizkit but Not to Sell Out
Equal Vision band Sky Eats Airplane is currently on "The Nu-Metal Tour" and have recorded a cover of Limp Bizkit's "Nookie." This is apparently causing a great stir in the electronic metalcore fan base, so Sky Eats Airplane wants all to know the reasons for covering such a song.
"A lot of you are very confused why: 1.) we covered a Limp Bizkit song, and 2.) let alone made it pretty close to the original.
The reason why we picked Nookie by Limp Bizkit, is because we sincerely think that song rules and we have been listening to quite a bit of Korn and Limp Bizkit in our van for the past few months. There. The secrets out. We are dwelling on music we listened to when we were 12 (for Travis, when he was 17 or something probably). It is NOT because our record label or manager told us that we should cover some popular song so we can blow up off of it. You will not see this song on some compilation cd in an attempt to gain new fans (When Punk Goes Pop, etc.). Another reason we covered nookie is that we consider it one of the flagship nu metal songs (hence it fits the tour theme). We have absolutely no intentions of playing this song after the "New Nu Metal" tour. We aren't going to be one of those bands--who i am NOT naming--that are riding on another music group's success because they threw some breakdown chugs over a poppy part someone else made."

Yeah, this makes me laugh, because of course all the comments on this are going to be negative, because most of these metalunderground.com people are haters. The same people that hate on Marilyn Manson, Korn, Slipknot.. let's just say a whole genre of music. But they are the same people that if you asked them about 8-10years ago they would have said, " Yeah, Limp bizkit is ok, I like their sound." But now that they "grown" up and don't relate to the music anymore, they just become haters. Which ties into this blog, if a band wants to cover an old song that was a national hit, which it was, who the hell cares! Why don't all of you, "Hardcore," people go listen to some European metal, basically shut up and deal with it.
tzas -- It's not so much that people here are "haters," it's just that 10 years ago when stuff like that was big, it was more like some people's introduction, if you will, to metal. Bands like Slipknot, Manson, and Korn, etc. were just "gateway bands" into a whole different world of metal, with heavier, faster, and more insane bands.
I still listen to Limp Bizkit. And Korn. Not so much Slipknot or Manson though. I'm not a 'hater,' but I do acknowledge the -FACT- that their is a lot of music out there a lot better than nu-metal. In fact, most music out there is better than nu-metal. But I still listen to it, on occasion. I guess I just love my nostalgia hahah :)
It seems as if the only people that even post comments or replys to posts like these are people that have nothing but bullsh** things to say....I mean, Just because you don't like it...doesn't mean you should want everyone else in the world to hate it as well... Yes...that style of music is most commonly a "gateway" genre, but without them would you be into the stuff you are now? I started out listening to bands like UnderOath and Silverstein...and now I find myself listening to nothing but grindcore, death metal, and technical metal...So no matter what you think about the bands like Sky Eats Airplane (who happens to be an amazingly talented band), you still have to thank them for "opening the door" to other genres of music for alot of people...
what if they are talking about the berzerkers cover tatu - all the things she said.......hhhmmm
Nah, that's more of a toungue in cheek parody type of cover. Like Six feet under covering AC/DC or Children of Bodom covering britney spears. This is a case of a sh**ty band covering a sh**ty song that they think is "classic".
And to anyone who tries to say that SKy Eats Airplane is "original" or "talented", take a good hard look at the entire post-hardcore and screamo scene. it's all the same sh**. and then take into account that just because someone is "talented" doesnt mean they're good, or that I have to respect them. Yngwie Malmsteen is one of the best guitarists of all time. 80 percent of his songs are crap, and he's an a$$hole besides. What does that tell you?
With cumstain though, he THINKS he's the best guitarist of all time when it's really his wingmen that are, 80 percent of his songs are actually pretty good, and occasionaly excellent, and he's a super-huge GAPING a$$hole besides. A little different, but the formula works. :P
I personally LOVE Megadave. I even have United Abominations, even though I acknowledge , and agree with, the complaints made against the album, and I still like it for the most part. Dave himself though, I had the unfortunate oppurtunity of meeting. If they allowed both pictures and vulgarities in the dictionary, the word "D ick s hit" would have his face next to it. I like megadave, but I dont respect the band at all.

i actually liked most limp bizkit, not the radioplay noise, but unquestionable truth was good, most of results may vary was mellow and matured a little.. i liked korn, still do at the gym..i'm so out of touch with heavy these days that i find i'm just recycling the same music i used to listen to years ago...
I liked nu metal, is that wrong? seems noone else did but it had that pump to it, the drive that i needed at the time, godsmack, mudvayne, nin, korn, limp...it wasn't a gateway for me so much as a genre that was combining everything else i liked in one perfect package. I guess i just dont like heavy the way i used to, metallica turned me off of that with that monstrosity that was st anger and the "poor rock band needs counseling" garbage that came out on video.
i need a mosh
