2.3% Of Australian Population Buys AC/DC Tickets
Undercover.com.au has issued the following report from Paul Cashmere:
2.3% of Australia's population bought an AC/DC ticket yesterday. There are 21 million people in Australia and half a million will see Acca Dacca next year.
Credit crunch? Not in AC/DC land. With more than 500,000 tickets sold in Australia yesterday that created a cash flow of more than $60 million.
Ticketing agency Ticketek reported that the sales made history. In the 30 years that the company has been around, that was the most ticket sales in one day for one act ever.
In Sydney, you could not get a ticket for the first show after 12 minutes.
At the peak of demand and capacity, 3,400 tickets were being sold per minute.

That_One_Guy, that's what Australians do - they make a nickname out of ANYTHING. Daryl/Daniel is Dazza, Sharon/Sheryl is Shazza, Barry is Bazza, the barbecue is the barbie, etc etc etc.
What this report doesn't tell you is that the limits on the numbers of tickets that individuals could buy was too high and scalpers are now having a field day on ebay. Pairs of tickets to the Perth show are going for $500+.

SHREDDER13 - You'd be either Shredder or Shredz or what wiggles said, and you would be expected to be a skeg (surfer). haha.
Wow. Thats a lot of tickets sold. I bet they'd sell a lot more if Brian Johnson didn't make every song sound the same. I know it isn't fair to judge someone against their predessesor but he just isn't as good. Back In Black was ok, but it's clear they still have a lot of faithful fans, or people who have heard Thunderstruck and their new single Thunderstruck MKII on the radio and wanna be cool... I know plenty of people who'd rather stay home and listen to Powerage and Dirty Deeds, but you can't argue with the numbers...

Jazz is jazz. Haha. Nice rhyme Terzza. The shortening of the names comes more from laziness rather than affection. Here, an affectionate nickname is something along the lines of d***head pr 'bloody ........' Unless there is more than one person with the same name. If there is 3 barrys, you have Baz, Bazza and Barry. Or in my case, there is me (Lee) and Leigh. So, I'm Leeroy (Or Pirate, long story) and Leigh is Leigh, or Manslut.
Untill recently, it was customary to call anyone with red hair 'Blue' or 'Bluey'. If you come from Tasmania your inbred and were born with 2 heads (My gf is from Tas. and she has a scar on her shoulder, so maybe theres an element of truth in there somewhere...). Of course, with Political Correctness and no-one except natives understanding the Aussie humour, a lot our lingo is unacceptable and not as widely used. The amount of people who dont know what a 'One Eyed Trouser Snake' is, is hilarious. And it its not surprising to get a lot of blank looks when you go to a pub and say 'I'm as dry as a Dead Dingoes donger' but if someones anoyying you, its always good to leave them scratching their heads by saying 'I hope your chooks turn to Emus and kick your dunny down' - of course, indoor dunnies make expressions like these and 'I bet she bangs like an outhouse door in a gale' obsolete. hahaha.

TOG and Terminator - The story goes like this - The guys were sitting around in one of their mothers kitchens trying to think of a name, and they saw an AC/DC badge one a dishwasher or something and decided that that was to be their name. Another thing I find funny about them, is that their claimed to be Australias biggest band, but the Young brothers (Angus and Malcolm) and Bon Scott are Scottish. Another thing I've noticed us do, is if someone comes from another country, and gets famous here, their true blue Australians, but if they f*** up, their Bloody Foriegners. hahaha
