Tool Guitarist Adam Jones and Bassist Justin Chancellor Writing While On Band Is On Hiatus

Brad Angle of Guitar World magazine recently conducted an interview with Tool guitarist Adam Jones. When asked how the new album was coming along, Jones replied:
"It's been coming along...great! [laughs] No, we've been on hiatus. I'm writing and [bassist] Justin [Chancellor]'s been writing, but [frontman] Maynard [James Keenan] has been working on his wine. We've all just been taking some time away from each other, which has been nice. I've also been working on producing some comics."
The entire interview can be found in the latest issue of Guitar World, out on newsstands now.
Tool has been on break from touring and writing since early 2008, following nearly two years of supporting their most recent studio album, 2006's "10,000 Days," which marked its first set of new material since 2001's "Lateralus."
In December Maynard James Keenan revealed that he had been working with A Perfect Circle guitarist Billy Howerdel on new material. When asked about releasing the material or touring, he stated: "I doubt if we'll do any touring or, you know, do a full album," he said. "We might do some one-off shows here and there if the timing's right and it seems like a good vibe and a smart thing to do. But most likely we'll just kind of concentrate on, you know, one or two songs at a time, rather than investing all the time and money and effort into making those plastic discs that no one cares about anymore."

brettthejett - It's Caduceus Vineyards. The supplies are limited and they only ship to certain states. They don't ship to Louisiana so I'm not too happy about that.
Blindgreed1 - Just work as usual. Nothing really to report from the home front. Just getting ready for Mardi Gras. I would avoid it if my kids didn't ask me every night to go. Thankfully it's only 2 weeks!

Weasel: They are apparently up and running. Try the Chuppacabra with a nice steak brother. Dee-fvcking-licious!
Netro: Agreed, I haven't heard that he's released anythig yet. I'll check with some of my fanatic Tool friends and see what I can dig up.
Regardless... Another Tool album and tour would be awesome. Even if it takes a couple of years to get there.

^APC is currently making new music.
Tool is on hiatus until everbody feels like making another album. which will be around 2011, judging by how long it's taken them to make albums before. This article just lets us know that the guitarist to Tool has some stuff he's working on for the band.
At least that's what I've heard...let's just say, don't quote me on it. :P
Now playing: Metallica- ...And Justice For All

APC is being worked on by both Maynard and Billy Howerdel...Tool's progress is being made by Jones and Chancellor...My guess is we'll see APC first and Tool second...Tool spends alot more time at the bench just in the compositional sense, Maynard ussually comes into the process later.
Now Playing: Hate Eternal - "Proclamation of the Damned"

Aw, jeez. It'd be f***ing disappointing that we would have to wait until 2011 for a new album to be released. Plans change, you'd never know what could happen in the near future. It's like Black Sabbath with Ozzy, who's been planning a new album off and on for years.

cyanotic: Yep I sure do. Have you been to the vinyard yet? If not, put it on your list of things to do. While you have that list out, why don't you add going to the Mayhem Festival in So Cal with a large group from Metal Underground? Many of us are converging at Glenn Helen this year (July 12).

Blindgreed: i have not, even though i live maybe 40 min. from it, can you believe that!!!
and i would love to go, but saddly dont think its in my budget. the lineup is rediculously sick this year though!
as for the new CD, it cant come soon enough, this world needs more tool!

cyanotic: I have room in my car and we are going to get an awesome rate on a hotel 15 minutes from the venue (because there is a gaggle of us going). It probably wouldn't cost you too much. Think it over and get back to me. Go to Blind Greed on myspace music and click on the singer (Clyde), send me a friend request and I'll give you the details.

Blindgreed: your friend is one of only like 50 people in that town!!! why would he pick cornville of all places? i would think that he wouldnt accomplish much there. a friend of my families does his finances, and he gave her and her son V.I.P. tickets to the Tool show coming up! he's a cool dude.
didnt he say he wasnt going to play in AZ anymore, or was that just in phoenix?

cyanotic: She actually lives (or lived I think she recently moved) right outside of Cornville. She is a huge Tool Fan too. I believe he just doesn't wat to play Phoenix anymore. You saw the bottle incident didn't you?
G: You can buy Maynard's wine on line now. Cadeuces vinyards. I recommend the Chuppacabra if you're on a budget. Sensei if you don't mind dropping $120.00 on a bottle of wine.
