Queensryche Parts Ways With Gutarist Mike Stone
Queensryche has issued the following statement about the departure of guitarist Mike Stone:
"Mike Stone has decided he will not be touring with Queensryche this spring. We will miss him. He is a wonderful player and has contributed to our lives musically and spiritually. We wish him the best and hope to see him succeed in everything he chooses to participate in. He adds this statement:
"After much consideration, I will not be joining Queensryche on the 2009 American Soldier Tour. I feel now is the time to focus on other musical endeavors, including my new band Speed X with Nick Catanese of Black Label Society. I would like to thank all of the Queensryche fans around the world for being nothing less than amazing to me during my time with the band. You have treated me like gold, and I will never forget it. It has been an honor to be a part of the Queensryche family, and I wish Geoff, Michael, Scott and Eddie nothing but the very best." - Mike Stone
"If you wish to stay in touch with Mike and follow his musical projects go add his official MySpace and band MySpace. I know he will appreciate hearing from you all!"

I don't care what anyone says - Geoff Tate is arguably, one of the best vocalists in rock. Classically trained and very impressive. Queensryche has had some really good, progressive stuff, and all the musicians are very talented. If they love making music, they should continue with the band. I second the vote - that DeGarmo should be come back.

Bummer- Stone was a great fit with the band from the outside . Good stage and guitar work. Was there an inside reason or did he want to become his own man? Whatever- if he is happy good for him. He will be missed in my eyes. If Whip did all the tracks on "soldier" was this coming and the Band knew it? Did he feel slighted because of this- don't know. Wish I did. Chris is busy flying and I don't see him in the near picture. What about shoprocked???? who is gonna fill the bill? Lets get some answers soon!!!

Queenscryche has been a part of my musical world for a longtime and I certainly hope that Chris DeGarmo comes back. I did like Mike Stone and thought he was a perfect fit but apparently his heart is more into what he wants to do alone. I can understand it kind of but not totally. I definately do not believe they will break up over losing Mike Stone. Oh whats his name kelly something might cover for awhile again. they are too good to Split and I think they still haven't done their best work yet but I do think Operation Mindcrime has been one of the best so far. However, I am a huge fan of all that is Queensryche. I do wish Mike Stone luck and hope that all goes well with Queenscryche I am glad to see them working hard. Chris has to do what is right for his family but it would be nice if the company he is flying with would allow him a leave to at least play a few shows here and there. I can't imagine not being able to play on stage anymore and I have had to for 6 years and I'm going nuts, lol. ~ Dave

Things like post #7 make my day. If someone disagrees with someone else's musical tastes we get to see a tirade of insults (always including references to their sexual orientation, as though it were relevant to musical tastes) hurled with all the expertise of an angry Kindergartner still learning the basics of the English language. Then they throw in things that don't make any sense, like "go back to your little child world and worship hip hop." What could possibly lead this person to think that a member at an underground metal website worships hip hop?

good, hopefully the whole band will break up and we won't have to hear their crappy generic music anymore
