Nancy Grace Links Sevendust Song "The Past" To Alleged Caylee Anthony Murder
Nancy Grace has somehow linked the Sevendust song "The Past" to the alleged murder of Caylee Anthony.
On her show recently, Grace hinted Sevendust might be indirectly responsible for murder. She was highlighting the song, "The Past," alleging that Casey Marie Anthony may have used the song as inspiration to allegedly murder her daughter Caylee Anthony in Orlando, Florida when the girl was reported missing on June 16 of this year.
A statement by the band was released and reads: "After hearing the news that our song 'The Past' was a topic of discussion on the Nancy Grace show yesterday, we would like to elaborate. The song was written as a song of hope. A song with positive message. to look back on your life and reflect and to feel good about getting through the rough times that everyone goes through, the roller coaster of life so to speak. We regret that we've been linked to the horrible subject involving the disappearance of little Caylee Anthony. Most of us have children and have been saddened by the story from the beginning. We pray for the safe return of this beautiful young child and wish her family strength."

This so called link between Sevendust and Casey Anthony is absolutely absurd! Did Nancy Grace forget about her own link to a death. Approximately two years ago she herself (Nancy Grace) drove a woman, Melinda Duckett, to suicide after drilling her about her missing son. Nancy - let he who is without sin cast the first stone, you pariah!

Good call godlike. I think she is just trying to prolong this topic for her show. That is all she has focused on for months, and just keeps rehashing the same thing. Like DB, as soon as I hear that voice or see that face, I'm scrambling for the remote to change the channel.

All of you need to rethink your comments.....Nancy Grace has done wonderful things for "people" who can no longer speak for themselves. If one really listened to her they would find that she takes the side of those missing and unforfunatley are later found dead. That is what she is about and she is very "fair"......it is people like her that keeps "those" who can no longer speak in the headlines....they are "out there" so those like the man that found the remains of Caylee not forgotten......grow up people........

YMBK - I was reading your post in aticipation of the "hah, kidding" part. Never found it. I'm not sure which I find more disturbing, that Grace did this, or that you actually watch the program and agree with her.
Her entire job/show is aimed at "energizing" an issue for her ratings and prolonging it. Why do you think that moron bounty hunter is still on the show almost everyday, he wants the attention as well. they are all whores.

All the while putting herself once again in the spotlight and making negative press for a band because they wrote a song? This song influenced this how? The logic of this situation escapes me. No matter what the woman might have said or done doesn't this strike you as a bit odd? Once again metal is the scapegoat for an ugly, tragic event. While I'm not doubting the good this lady has done, I find this to be another AC/DC "Nightprowler" case, or Ozzy with "Suicide Solution", or Judas Priest with "Better By You, Better Than Me". I just read about something called the "Santa Massacre". Why am I not hearing about the musical tastes of a man who shot an 8 year old girl in the face? Oh, because he didnt listen to Metal, so it's not a factor. These parallels are only drawn when the person in question is a Metal fan. Sorry if it disgusts me.

Thanks guys. I've spent many years of my life reigning in a temper that did nothing for me but cause trouble and alienate my family and friends. I try to keep my head and to find ways to express myself in the best way I can. I hope to come off as an intelligent, thougthful, and caring person.
But after reading the crap at the top of this page my blood was getting hot. I can't believe this, ignorant, cheap shot, sensationalist shlock is actually news.

Honestly, if a person is going to sink to this kind of propaganda while talking about the case of a murdered child, then I can't call it anything other than the actions of a attention seeking vulture. If she actually believes this her integrity is severely in question. Reporting this kind of straw-grasping story is an embarrassment to people in this field. Look a man like John Walsh in the eye and then talk to me about Sevendust.

Yeah that Netro feller, uses his mouth perttier than a $20 hooker ..!! LOL ..just jokin buddy..!!
I think its ridiculous, that this wench has done nothing but talk about this story since it started last summer...!! Yeah, its sad, its disgusting and completely horrible what happened to this little girl...!!
But....what about all of the other children that have been abducted, kidnapped and murdered since last summer.. Kids go missing every day, and this relentless douche rocket hasnt stopped to make a comment about any of them..!!
Bg1 - thanks for the use of the phrase.... it fits SO well..!!

sh**ty stuff what Grace said.
On a side note, I won tix to Sevendust/Black Label Society from the radio (95.1 WIIL Rock...for those who live near Chicago) the other day, so I won't have to pay for these. I know that Godlike will be at the Iowa show I believe.
Happy New Yr everyone...Cheers!

Oh that's perfect and says so much of what I just didn't care to take the time to articulate. It's a perfect response to our drive-by defender in post #23 too. No matter what her cause is, she is a disgrace to journalism and annoying to watch or listen to aside from being rude and factually inaccurate more than not.

That could possibly be the most rediculous thing I have ever heard. This dumb broad obviously has a problem with great music and at the same time she is making this harder for the Caylee family. Im so sick and tired of music being blamed. Hell I could go shoot someone and blame it on slipknot's duality because it is am angry video. This is so retarded.

what i want to know is why everything has to be blamed on something other than the person who did it. i mean why couldnt have the mother just killed her kid cuz she wanted to? why is it that someone is always posessed to do something because of their music or something? that drives me crazy

Nancy Grace was not the first person to link this song to the Casey Anthony case. It was reported that she repeatedly listed to this song while she was out on bond. It is not that Nancy Grace listened to the song and thought about this case and decided maybe Casey liked this song. It is a fact that Casey frequently listened to it.
68. writes:
Well, be that as it may. Let's keep in mind that it's still just a song.
Oh, and FU you do know what you're talking about? Seems to me you just popped in, left some juvenile ramblings and left with no explanation. If you have anything constructive or informative, fire away. You'll have to forgive me if I doubt it.
I certainly doubt a so-called journalist who exaggerates the facts behind her fiance's death to make her book more dramatic, or backs a stripper who flat out lied in a case like the Duke Lacrosse team rape scandal. Look it up. I didnt make this up.
Sorry, looks like some of us stupid a$$ losers can read, think for themselves, or keep up on events they choose to comment on. For future reference, I don't post unless I know what I'm talking about.

Let's get to the root of the problem. The media in general desensitizes issues such as parents killing their children. What was once an outrageous concept is now old hat. Instead of blaming Sevendust, Nancy (representing the media) should look in the mirror for propelling hate, no matter what her intentions truly were. It's cliche now that you can't turn on the news without learning about a new murder or suicide or global tragedy. There is just as much good as evil but we are overwhelmed with what sells...the latter.
We're all guilty using that logic, something I post here could influence you to _ _ _ _ _. I'm afraid to fill in the blanks as I may end up on Nancy "fallen from" Grace.
Stop the blame game and accept that the Earth runs on chaos. Just try to survive and live as fulfilling a life as possible. I'm sure Nancy is a "God Fearing" woman so the poor childs murder was in his grand design, right?
71. writes:
To amend my above statement, I took the broad approach for getting to "the root of the problem." This girl clearly has pre-existing issues. I'm a huge believer in survival of the fittest and this girl just couldn't cope with life. She is a coward, a disGRACE and should be punished to the fullest extent.

there's always one person who defends a person who blames music for the stupidity of people.

The situation where a murder is blamed on a song or band, arises too often on this site for me to be able to contribute any articulated point that hasnt already been said before in another thread.
I will however, say this:

How come when some crazy a$$hole kills somebody, music is to blame....but only if they listen to hard rock, metal, or rap?
Peterson has killed like 3 wives and nobody is blaming Sinatra, or Barry Manilow or whatever he listens to. Have you ever listened to the lyrics of "Mandy"...scary stuff.
76. writes:
I brought it up earlier. Some guy shoots an 8 year old in the face and his musical taste is never a factor. This woman likes a hard rock band and all of a sudden metal makes the murderer. It's like Helter Skelter all over again. With all the cases that bring this into question I have to wonder if it's not the murder but the music that people are trying to villanize. Year after year I hear this nonsense, and no real evidence is ever brought to light. Why don't we hear this kind of thing about Ganster Rap anymore? No, we get movies like "Notorious". I guess some people are just safer to antagonize.

BTW that phrase comes from the noise pot seeds make when you unwittingly light them on fire, i.e. when you don't pick out the sticks and seeds well enough. A very tragic experience for anyone who doesn't know any better. Along the same lines as "cool beans" but I don't know who would think it was cool to have seeds crackling outta there pipe. Kinda funny both are used these days when most people have no idea wtf the phrases mean in the first place i.e. BrianSD.

Music, (metal in particular) has always been used as a scapegoat for violent actions. If I haven't capped anybody listening to the music I listen to such as Through the eyes of the dead, Psyopus, and Animosity, then that claim is automatically invalid. Since the examples I gave are 100 times more intense. They even tried to blame Collective Soul for some school shooting not too long ago. Cmon....Collective Soul? The band that sings "heaven let your light shine down." HA!!! Well actually, that song does kinda make me want to kill.

In defense of Nancy Grace, she is the only one who has provided coverage of this horrific story from the beginning, and there are those out there, such as myself, that are interested in what happened to this precious little angel, and want to see justice done. If they want to put anyone down it should be that monster of a mother of Caylee. Eating her snacks, and not even interested in anything that has been discovered concerning her daughter, oblivious to the entire matter, why not? She may have gotten away with the perfect murder just as O.J. did.

I honestly cannot stand to listen to this woman and have to change the channel every time. In 5 minutes you can hear so much bad logic, and this is no exception. She gives the media a bad name and I have no idea why she's even on TV.
