WOW, Im glad I waited this long. You know, I could have been more satisfied if 14 years ago I placed a hunk of dog s hit in a coffee can with some rotten eggs. Then today open the coffee can and rub the crude mixture all over my face. Yeah, I can really honestly say that would be much more appealing than listening to the sonic garbage that just stained my ears.
I think we should start a list of albums we would rather listen to than this. Here I'll start...
1. Backstreet Boys
2. Eddie Murphy Singing
3. Weird Al
4. The Wiggles

I have not clicked the link yet, I might though. With the first 2 songs I heard, I might be scarred for life if I hear it.
"listen2_autumns_eyes": I agree the wiggles are the bomb LOL. I want to throw down with imagination movers personally! :-)

This took $13 million and 14 years to make. Was it worth it - NO. Not complete garbage bt jst not worth the cd it's going to be put on, never mind the market price. Axl took so long and made a very sub-par album and expects every G&R fan to buy it - thats the only way he'll turn a profit. If people listened to it before buying, it would be a much different story
Np - Edguy - Wasted Time
Iron Maiden - Wasted Years

I listened to it. I liked it. It was pretty good. But good is as far as I'll go. What I will say about the wait is this, they did the right thing by delaying it because if this only took them a year to make and they released it in the mid 90s, it would have failed terribly. Seeing as how in this decade people are more open to listening to rock and metal from all decades and there's still a market for all these bands, it'll sell quite well.

^ you bring up a great point I didn't quite realize....
Obviously Axl had made enough money (and was continuing to rack revenue) that they could watch the market (i.e. music trends) to know when the perfect time was to step in and release the album. That and creating a 14-year hype, people are bound to check it out!! Great money making skills, unfortunately the quality of music isn't reflected.
I can name about 10 GREAT albums that were passed off and forgotten in the 90s simply because they were labeled 'grunge' bandwagon jumpers. Had the material been released later (i.e now) it would be a music landmark

I suppose you do have a very good point there Diamond but I think that with all the hype the album just won't live up to it. And The cost of production was still ridiculous. If he'd spent half the amount it might be understandable but for near enough $1 million a song I don't think it was worth it.

Yeah the production costs weren't worth it at all. What I will say regarding the hype is, name me one album that has lived up to the hype? There was a huge hype about the new AC/DC album but everyone knew what they were gonna get so it was nothing amazing. Death Magnetic was hyped well but ultimately there was still alot fans disapointed due to production and the like.

Ah yeah, definitely true. I kind of like the adverts that's been on telly lately though. I saw one in the pub last night that showed all the big things that's happened while GNR has been making the album. You might think it's kind of egotistical for them to advertise the album like it's Earth's biggest event of the year but it's great marketting strategy really.
"How far up their own arse! Who does he think he is? You know what? I'm gonna buy the album just to se if it's as crap as I expect!"

OK I'll admit I just listened to it online. Is it just me or is there more ballads than faster paced songs? I don't get it $14,000,000 down the tubes. "citrus_tea": I do think that the intros are too long. It's hard to pull off a long intro and still keep a listener's attention. "diamond oz": good point. I would assume that Axl is probably hoping that there is a hand-full of new listeners that will also pickup the older albums.

I just finished listening to it. I remember saying the riff to "Chinese Democracy" was basic, and it still is, but it's a good basic now that I think about it. I also like "Better." As for my favorite track, I really like the song "Shackler's Revenge." I gotta say that these 3 tunes are the most memorable tracks off the album that I enjoy.
As for the rest, some sounds were 'unique', but yes, all the songs are quite slow. I sort of liked it, but after awhile, slow song after slow song after slow song made me sleepy, you know?
I noticed some people mentioning that it's kind of a good thing that it was released during this time; I somewhat agree. The material does seem to suit the appropriate time period, but I still think 14 years is a long a$$ time! :) Anyways, other than my three favorite tracks, I have decided to rate this thing according to the sound, not by the time and the money put into it, cuz I'm strange that way: overall, this album is OK.

Had a listen to it. Well, it´s OK. Occasionally Good, but as Diamond Oz put it, Good is about it. One interesting thing though... I wonder what we would say about it if we wouldn´t have known that Axl was working on a new album, or that it took 14mil etc at all. Just a new GNR album that just surfaced without any hype. I reckon we´d like it a lot more. Then again, who cares, the damage is done now

Think Axl said it best in the first tune.
"It don't really matter"
Gotta respect "Appetite for Destruction". The album makes me want to kick down the bar door, order a Beer and a Shot and light up a Marlboro. But after "GnR Lies" I was pretty much over them. This isnt particularly bad, just not anything that gets the blood flowing. Nothing like the old Cheap beer, tobacco smoke and sluts music I used to love.

It's "bad publicity" when a blogger links to these songs, bad enough to arrest him, but all systems go when it's on a GnR-branded site... I wonder if these guys even know they've potentially ruined somebody's life.
