Slayer To Film New Live DVD And Perform "Reign In Blood" in London

Band Photo: Slayer (?)
Thrash metal gods Slayer has made two important announcements regarding the bands shows in London soon. The first is that on the first night in London, the band will perform their classic 1986 album, "Reign In Blood" from start to finish. On the second night in London, the band will be filming the concert for a brand new live DVD. The band will also be performing the whole "Reign In Blood" album at both Swedish shows. This is part of the Unholy Alliance tour with Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth which is currently trekking across Europe. More details will follow soon.

I'd be much more happy to hear South of Heaven or Divine Intervention, or even Show no Mercy played all the way through. Try something DIFFERENT for a change, because i'm starting to get sick and tired of Reign...

I don't have Divine... but honestly, I couldn't get into ...Heaven. It was a bit too slow for me. It had some great tracks like Mandatory Suicide and the title track but for the most part I couldn't get into it. Which is weird considering how much I love Slayer.

What's ignorant about Slayer? They're not really arrogant people, let alone ignorant. And without trying to pick a fight or anything, if my memory serves me well, then Slayer's last album didn't get anywhere near as panned as Korn's. Not to mention that they were able to actually name their album and better yet, it didn't bore the sh** outta me.

Korns last album kicked slayers ass....just cuz is wasnt has "hard' as slayer, doesnt mean it wasnt better. Slayer is ignorant, their lyrics are sh**!!!!!!!! And im a lryical guy, so if the lyrics dont hit me, i dont waist my time.
Now playing- Korn-starting over

Well, let's compare (and bear in mind, I do really like Korn), Slayer's last album certainly wasn't their best, but it was enough to keep fans and newcomers to the band happy and featured some excellent songs such as "Cult" and "Jihad", the latter of which had some really interesting lyrics and put a new and interesting spin on songs about 9/11.
Korn's last album on the other hand, had no songs which really stood out and seemed uninspired, repetitive and rushed. In my opinion they recorded it too soon after "See You On The Other Side" which wasn't great either. Hopefully after this break they're going on they'll be able to come up with something new and original or something more like their older stuff.

Very true. Besides which, the last DVD was primarily focused on Reign In Blood and only featured six songs not from said album. The tracklisting on this one will be a full concert set with songs from all different albums. Plus you'll probably get the video to "Eyes Of The Insane" and some backstage footage or something. Plus since it's been four years since "Still Reigning", they'll find some more stuff to put on there. Possibly the audio for the new song they're letting fans have?

You guys are assclowns. Slayer fuking rules and has never sold out or changed since the early 80's.
KORN? Are you fuking kidding me. Korn blows harder than jonathan davis at an aids convention.
And coco, why do you know all the band members if you hate them so much?
And seriously, anyone who likes any form of newer metal should be kissing kerry's nuts. He paved the way for so many metal guitar players. Thats why we still respect him.

Hell Awaits and Show No Mercy were classic albums, but don't get me wrong, Reign in Blood was excellent too. And despite what most people say, I actually liked Christ Illusion.
And yeah, they've released lots of DVDs lately, but it seems to me like they're just trying to give fans something to watch until their new CD hits shelves. Can't blame them for trying to please their fans. Or make a few extra bucks. (No, that doesn't make them sell-outs, they've stuck to their roots.)
And really, don't get me started on how much Korn sucks these days.... I've had this discussion with KORNDOGG several times.. lol.

I havent heard much of Christ Illusion, but I love the song cult. It reminds me off the GHUA album, which is my favorite as well, but at the same time, just as thrashy as Reing in blood, so it came out to be an awesome song imo. Is there anything else on the album I should check out? I'm scared because my favorite slayer song ever was Stain of Mind, but the rest of the album...well...I just don't understand how boring it sounded to me. :p
oh, and
"And seriously, anyone who likes any form of newer metal should be kissing kerry's nuts"
I respect the guy, but I don't think listening to modern music means I have to go quite THAT far to show my appreciation lol

God wont judge what ive done. He crawls upon my feet. A privileged pain beneath. Bury all your dead, unsplintered bones. I walk sifting through the blood. Beseiged to fear, await the coming of the god.
I will watch you die again for him........"
What the f*** kind of unamerican, bullsh** lryics are those? You wanna know why i hate slayer, f***IN READ that sh**!!!!
Theirs your answer, need i say more

" Walk away when your angry. Brace yourself, theres nothing to gain. Old enough to know the outcome, more blood its always the same.Arent we cool and arent we calm. Facing deathwe run head-on. Arent we cool and arent we calm. For god weve suffered for so long.
Do what they say, or they take it away. Id rather be dead than carry on.
(wait) bite your lip, dont be cursing. (wait) We musnt take gods name in vain. Blunt your knife, pull the curtain. Impulses you must refrain.
Now those are lryics, I rest my f***EN case.......

It's probably because you don't have the grey matter needed to understand the lyrics. Unlike the bands you're used to listening to, Slayer do things like take themselves out of their own perspective and try to non-judgementally understand the viewpoint of other people, Josef Mengele, Jihadist etc. Calling Slayer unamerican just shows how far off you are.
29. writes:
Hell haha I can't even believe I'm having a Slayer vs. Korn argument - Yeah sure Korn are just lyrical genius, songs like "Ass Itch" are amazing ahaha.
"You go to the church, you kiss the cross
You will be saved at any cost
You have your own reality
Christianity
You spend your life just kissing ass
A trait that's grown as time has passed
You think the world will end today
You praise the Lord, it's all you say"

christ illusion was the first slayer album i was exposed to...[young metal n00b]
but maybe that has something to do with why it;s my favorite. it stands out more for me than other albums.
but please don't use comparision to korn and slayer. they are greatness in completely opposite aspects, yet still fit onto the same plate titled 'metal'
just because they are both metal doesn't mean you can logistically compare them.

its good to hear about a new live dvd but as many already mentioned it would be great to see something different...seasons in the abyss from start to finish or divine intervention ....that would be crazy! ...seeing lombardo playing Killing Field would be a blast!
or the entire christ illusion played live too!
why most bands realease their live dvds in london???
sh** i envy them so much coz i know they'll never come down here lol

Alot of bands film shows live in places like London, Tokyo, New York etc. because they're big and important cities so if you can film a live DVD at a big venue in a major city, it makes a bigger impact. For example, titles like, "Slayer: Sc***horpe Assault", "Sepultura: Live In Grimsby", "Testament: Warfield in Huddersfield", "Kreator: Swindon Massacre" and "Exhorder: Bristol Bombing" don't sound like the most promising of DVD's and I certainly wouldn't buy them if they were filmed in places like that unless they were loaded with extra sh**. Of course you could argue that filming in a smaller place gives the DVD more of an intimate feel, but if you want that, just go to the concert since chances are tickets wouldn't be too expensive. Having said that, there's other places in the UK you could film a live DVD i suppose such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingam and perhaps Cardiff, Glasgow and Belfast. But for the most part, if you advertise that the DVD is filmed in a city like London, people will take more notice.

It's in Lincolnshire, North East England. I believe the town's biggest claim to fame is being the town where most of the scenes for the film, "This Is England" were shot (although never actually mentioned in the film that they're in Grimsby) and is also featured in the Playstation 3 game Resistance:Fall Of Man. It's a dock town which made it a heavy target for bombing from the Nazis in WW2 and my only real memory of Grimsby is seeing their team beat mine (Queens Park Rangers) at Loftus Road when I was about eight years old. Bastards.

And jumping back into the Korn debate, the name may be a little CORNy (get it? dur hur hur!) but to be perfectly fair, I've heard of so many more worse ones since I became a reader of this site three years ago such as I Killed The Prom Queen, From A Second Story Window, Set Your Friends On Fire and many more. For some reason though, I can't help but feel that the name Korn (right spelling or not) would have been adopted sooner or later, it just so happened that the band that did go with it became one of the biggest bands in modern rock. However some names are just so obvious yet brilliant such as Slayer, Anthrax, Rush, Iron Maiden and Venom. However some names are brilliant for their originality such as Judas Priest or Thin Lizzy. Plus I know that Black Sabbath took their name from a film, but I have high doubts that a band have thought of that name later down the line for some reason.

A.C.? I always thought Strapping Young Lad was a stupid name to pick, but now I wake up in the morning chanting S!..Y!..L! haha.
Oh Edguy is a pretty lame name. Gory Blister have a terrible name for their band as well makes them sound like some goregrind act. Pretty much all pseudo-poetry metalcore names.

It's main focus is a group of skinheads yeah but it's set in the early 80s when three million Brits were unemployed, the Falklands war was going on and racism was a bigger problem than it is today. It has a great story and some great acting from many cast members. Plus it's got a great soundtrack if, like me, you were brought up on/love ska and reggae music.
