At The Gates Issues Post-Reunion Tour Update
At The Gates has issued the following post-tour report:
"The reunion shows for 2008 have come to an end. We want to thank everybody involved for making them happen. A massive "thank you" goes out to our partners in The Haunted, Disfear, Nemhain, Slaktattack etc. for understanding the importance of doing these last couple of closing shows.
"What happens now you might ask?
-Well, we are currently working on collecting a bunch of filmed material and we will begin to film & edit some footage for an upcoming documentary. More news about this at a later date.
"In the meanwhile, please respect our current status, and try to understand that our main priority lies with our current bands and prior commitments.
"Thanks everybody for making this a memorable summer for us all."
You can check a clip of "Suicide Nation" from Graspop, June 29 - 2008 on the band's site.

I saw them at Graspop based on all the hype around them on here and I honestly didn't see what the big deal was. I thought The Haunted were better when I saw them last year. At The Gates weren't bad but I couldn't get into them and left after a few songs. "I've seen them now" kinda thing.

Guess you have to be a fan of the material first ^^^. Their early stuff is pretty complex/progressive. ATG and Obituary got me into death metal, so I'm a pretty big fan. Also ATG have made it pretty clear they want to leave the legacy of the band untainted, that's why they quit at the top of their game.

oh my god, oz, you walked out of an ATG show? I'd have sucker punched my grandmother in the kidneys to go to that show. I guess to each his own, tho. ATG can stop recording, that's fine with me, but please, for the love of everything everywhere, do a big world tour, so the ATG novices (me) can see a real live ATG show before I die~!

They definitely seemed to please their fans which was the most important thing, I've just never really been one for death metal. I saw Obituary at Graspop too and I watched their entire set. It's strange, I enjoyed them, but I couldn't get into it if ya get me? I didn't get it is the best way to describe it I suppose. There's few death metal bands that I'm a casual fan of such as Suffocation, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse but overall I just find it hard. I gotta lotta love and respect for real death metal though.
