Black Sabbath Bassist Geezer Butler Slams Sarah Palin

Band Photo: Testament (?)
The latest addition to the list of legendary rockers enraged with Republican politicians is none other than Geezer Butler, the legendary bassist of Black Sabbath/Heaven And Hell. In a recent tour update he says:
"Hello readers,
"Thank you all who came to see the Metal Masters tour. It was a pleasure touring with such great bands and friends - Judas Priest, Motorhead, and Testament, and their respective crews. It was great meeting everyone who came to the meet and greets after the shows.
"Now back to reality. As you may know from my web-site and lyrics, I am pro all life, not just unborn fetuses. I don't understand people who say they are pro-life, but then support unnecessary wars and the disgusting slaughter of animals for sport. I respect people's freedom of religion, but i absolutely abhor hypocrites. Which brings me to this horrific video of cowardly bastards in airplanes, shooting wolves for so called "sport", and the hypocritical politician [she's supposed to be pro-life, remember], who allows this cowardly act to take place in her state. I know lots of people who hunt, and I enjoy shooting at my local gun range, but I don't know, nor would i want to know, anyone who gets pleasure from this disgraceful behaviour. God/Nature has created a beautiful earth, and populated it with beautiful creatures, and i believe that all life is miraculous. Why do politicians [royals included] enjoy killing so much, and treating those miracles with such contempt?
"Love and peace,
Geezer."

Truth is man, the Brits (myself included) are far more interested in American politics than our own. This I believe is for two reasons, One: America is the worlds main superpower so the world needs to know whats going on there. And two: Our own politics and politicians are far too boring to pay attention to, let alone remember their names lol. Gordon Brown VS David Cameron here, same old sh** either way. Whereas in the States, no matter who wins history will be made, so it's well worth watching and discussing.
3. writes:
Ha nice, i try not to pay attention to politics here, cause you cant believe a damn thing anything is said, from the politicians to the media. Its all bullsh** and most of what is said isnt even true, especially if it comes from the media. So really i just avoid it and try to believe with what i can come up with.
4. writes:
Heh, same here man. It's not worth paying attention to here at all. See in Britain we have the Conservative Party and the Labour who supposedly represent the right left wings respectively and what happened was, the Labour Party after awhile realized that they were never going to gain office again as long as they stuck to the same policies of socialism so they changed alot of their policies until they weren't much different from the Conservatives. So over here it really is a case of it doesn't matter who you vote for because you'll get the same policies and actions (or lack thereof.
I see what you mean about musicians getting involved with politics though. I reckon unless you've always been a band based in politics such as System Of A Down or Rage Against The Machine, then it seems too preachy bringing politics into your music all of a sudden.

I don't think she's a good choice for anything involving politics, at least from what I've seen and heard. She can't even think about her own problems at home, how the hell is she gonna run a country? *Stupid* Although I stay clear of political matters, this woman has definitely been getting some attention. I like the fact that Geezer had something plain to say, plus I agree with 'em. It's a simple topic compared to most other things but little things lead to big ones!
Haha! Heart got mad about the Palin campaigning because they used the song "Barracuda." :)

I think Palin is another lying sack of dog dung politician. What a said state our country is in when the main canidates are a half black muslim with a Washington insider as his running mate and an old man with that belongs in a nursing home running with a 40ish woman, with a retared kid and a whore for a daughter, as his running mate.

12. writes:
to post #8 if Obama is a muslim then so are you. Why don't you pull your head out of your azz long enough to do some research instead of believing what the fear mongers tell you. I also have to wonder if maybe it is because you are a racist that you belive what they say. I wonder what McCainiac and his little B I T C H are going to do FOR you and your family. Or maybe I should say TO you and your family.

lol diamond oz. You and me both. I live in Canada, so being right next door to the states directly effects us, let alone our gas prices *gulp*. Our media is so soaked in U.S. election coverage that I just read today that we will most likely be having an election...

I agree with Geezer. If you're going to be pro life then why kill animals? They are living creatures like people. Also, when I supported Hillary it was not because she was a woman. What makes John McCain think somebody like me would vote for him because he has a woman on the ticket?
On the brighter side, Immolation and Mayhem are going to be at the Maryland Deathfest next year :). WOOHOO!!! There's a chance I might get to see Mayhem in my hometown.

Sorry to be the b**** of the thread and with all due respect to Mr Butler. I wonder how many animals he has eaten, and contributed financally to slaugther houses who do far worse than your average hunter? I for one am not pro-life, but I did love what I saw in Palin's speach. She never went off and made any big to do about being pro-life either. Sorry Mr. Butler and to the member's here, but I am not swayed from the McCain/Palin ticket.

yeah, i never understood the arguments behind pro-life. especially the notion that it only applies to humans. why dont we then outlaw other species and life forms from eliminating each other? ahh, that's right. because then everything would die. i like the idea of survival of the fittest to help create the best life.
as for polics, i cant stand it. my vote really is meaningless...unless i get some sort of satisfaction from the illusion that my vote matters or that i helped participate in electing the next jackass that will continue to lead the country in the wrong direction. the colbert report and daily show are enough politics for me!

^Good points! Something many people do not take time to understand is that hunting is a very healthy thing to do for the Earth. If we are to let animals over populate then we are making not only our food resorces deminish, but we are also not helping the animal food resorces deminish. Mass murdering animals and putting them on endangered spieces lists does no good either, but controled hunting works well.

Yeah, Americans all suck. We keep voting in the same lousy scoundrels and crooks because we "don't want to waste our vote!"
The only reason someone runs for president in the U.S. is to get their hands on the $2,000,000,000,000 heist perpetrated on the citizenry. Or so they can unleash undeclared warfare on some poor nation of brown people. The Supreme Court really dropped the ball on that one.
I feel more sorrow for the rest of the world than I do for the Americans. I'm only going to lose $25,000 this year. The non-Americans could lose their lives!
Yeah, go ahead, chant "USA...USA..." Be proud that the citizenry of America are still willing to build the war machine even under 50% taxation.
Vote Libertarian before the bombers target you!

Hunting is one thing but shooting wolves from a plane sounds a little unstable to me. It seems like Geezer is not necessarily talking about you or me going out on the farm and shooting a deer for our carniverous enjoyment, but I think he simply is questioning some of the methods that this so called "population control" is being administered. Also, everyone seems to hate on musicians who speak their mind about politics, especially in these forums. How can you say that you don't want to hear what people have to say about things when in fact that subject manner was incorperated in Black Sabbath's music from the begining. I applaude him for speaking his mind and I admire his compashion for the earth and living things. Black Sabbath FU(k!n rules and he has the right to say what he feels whenever he d@mn well pleases.

I have not read anyone elses post's, but the one thing that stuck out for me is the "sport" part I am a hunter but not affilated with any political party. Hunting us not just a sport i grew up in North dakota and KNOW if there isn't hunting the animal population would be devistating to crops and livestock. America and whoever else buys crops/livestock from us needs what we provide and if there wasn't hunting it wouldn't be possible. hunting is a very controlled activity and assuming America and more specifficlly Alaska is the only place that Poaches animals is REDICULOUS!
I cannot stand for Poaching!!
Also I can't be sure but I'm pretty sure Geezer lives Somewhere in Europe and he is talking about America, instead of worrying about Alaska, Geezer, try to take care of YOUR home land. but thats the great thing about America he doesn't need any reason to make his point of view known. he can say whatever he wants.

Also, I don't think I need to mention that McCain obviously picked Sarah Palin as a VP for the sole purpose of media attention.
Further input: I *would* sodomize Sarah Palin. She sucks for being a repbublican and on top of that, a politician, but she's also a straight up MILF.
(No disrespect to Kalis_wrath, I respect your views and why you have those views in support of McCain. And as you already know, I have complete respect and admiration for you as a person. But just as I've heard your views, you've heard mine. I'm still voting for Obama.)

Also, Johnnytheshreadhead, I would gladly give money to stop the hippies that have their heads up thier arse about hunting. I am so glad that hippies dont run the U.S government! We would have dangerouse over growths of animal populations! If it were not for hunters there would be cougars in your yard eating your pets and threatening the lives of children. How would you like if you spent alot of time and energy on a garden to feed your family and because of an over popultaion of deer and elk it was trashed? Controled hunting is a great thing! I fully support it and give the finger to anyone against hunting and yet sits down to any meal with meat in it!

The Canuck's are just p***ed because they do not want the American dollar to rebound and push the Canadian dollar back down. This really isn't as much a political commentary as it first appears, he's just taking issue with the fact that she labels herself a pro-lifer and yet does nothing to quash hunting in Alaska. This is an interesting metaphysical viewpoint, yet I know of few Repubs or anyone that directly associates the pro-life platform with anti-hunting. One does not connote the other, and this issue is restricted to human beings. That being said, he should restrict his statement to admonishing her to abolish cruel practices such as shooting animals out of helicopters and crack down on animal rights violations. On the same token, I despise people who get uppity about the hunting issue, in general -- if you eat meat and fish, you have no right to judge those who hunt and fish for food, and if you don't eat meat, there's no need to be a dbagger about it.

I think it's stupid for musicians to align themselves politically with any party or politician. Not that it really matters to me, but it may alienate people who may otherwise be fans. I think it's great that Geezer Butler is a democrat and p***ed off with the Republican party, but I don't need to hear that he thinks this is great and that is great and this sucks and that sucks. If hunting is about keeping the population of wild game down, then why is it so important to kill the 14 point monster buck or have the 22 lb. bass hanging on your wall? What it really boils down to is that some people like to kill sh!t from up in a tree with a high powered rifle at 100 yrds!!!! It is what it is, and stop calling it a fu(king sport! Whats the d@mn sport about it? You spend thousands of dollars on crap at wal-mart to make you a better hunter. Go try to kill these animals with your bare hands and then its a sport. I want to see that. Lets even things up a little bit for the animal who has no clue that Billy Bob is about to pump a hallow point in his a$$ from his hiding spot. Come on out and square up with these beasts and then you can have some honor if you do get the kill, you will earn it!!!! Sport, LOL!!!!!!!!!!

This is awesome. It's good to hear a high-profile musician standing up for something so meaningful. Animal rights is something that is not taken seriously enough and should be brought to the attention of people everywhere. From killing a moose in the forest to killing a child in the Middle East. It's all widely accepted. I guess the right-wingers just don't understand that ALL life is precious. Humans and animals alike.

To Kingcrim, you sound like a little fa**ot sheep that believes everything the media says and states things you can't back up. I bet you haven't once looked up Obama's credentials. You're all talk, just like Commrade Barry Obama, and all of his cult followers. And as a counter argument to Geezer, he says he doesn't understand people who kill animals for a sport and warfare, what I don't understand is when people are pro-choice, anti war, and are animal rights extremists. Essentially, people are giving animals more rights than humans in this thinking, (pro choice, pro animal) and have no problem killing a human fetus (the word fetus actually means "young child" in Latin) but if someone harms an animal, they make a HUGE deal about it. I respect him for being pro ALL life, its better than being the opposite, but when it comes to the safety and stability of a nation with hundreds of millions of lives at stake, you have to take drastic measures sometimes, meaning kill your enemies, if they are threatening to your life and the life of the rest of your countries and allies in order to keep the peace. Of course, this makes the enemy angry, but they wouldn't be your enemy now if they didn't, wouldn't they? War is hell, I'll give you that, but we have to be willing to stand up and fight for justice, we can't just let the oppressors to continue to oppress. Yes, a human life is much more valuable than a non human life, but if those humans are against what is most beneficial for human life to continue to prosper, than eliminate the threat. And to be honest about the video, its just hunting. God creating man to rule over all the Earth and its creatures, so we have the God given right to choose to hunt if we want to, it doesn't mean it is cruel or wrong by any means. If we didn't hunt, we wouldn't be able to live, hunting for food has been essential for living since creation, and it remains just as important today. Besides, people that hunt for a sport don't kill just for pleasure, they trade fur, eat the animal, or sell the meat, and other uses, no hunter is gonna kill and let it go to waste, unless they're a fag, and then I think its pointless to hunt. But that's it.

I'm actually very busy and only have time to post maybe three or four paragraphs before I sleep (I type at about 160wpm).
4)I chose this name, not because I wanted to conform to what was deemed "hardcore" as you put it, I chose it because I liked it. If you don't, please go choke on something and stop wasting your time.
5)I've been welcome on this site by the right people. You're not '90% of the people on here' so your hating on me doesn't really affect me, it wouldn't otherwise. Okay, you can have intelligent conversations with people, good on you. It still doesn't change your bad grammar and spelling ;-P
"...like you have ever been laid..."
---6)You point the finger, there are three pointing back at you.
7)I only brought up your name ONCE, so stop acting like that's the only reason you come off as microcosmic.
8)...You're a really unsuccessful troll.
And I never was p***ed at you for calling it a sob story (because again, I don't care). Right now you're the only one getting your panties in a bunch over my very existence here. And all the while, you still haven't shown any spark of intelligence, just a barrage of insults that can easily be outdone by a 15-year-old. It reminds me very much of LordAgony, that includes the lack of intelligence and the pathetic need for having the last word. You still haven't proven anything to me that can actually impact me. Its just the same sh** you hear in middle school. Come back to me with something smart not just some failed attempt at pseudo-intelligence.
Again, bidding you goodnight,

O.k, could you warn us to get a cup of coffee befor long post's like that Christfvcker? *LOL* :P
I hope you guys (Christfvcker and Korndogg) don't mind that I want to be friends with you both. Though I am not a fan of Korn, you Korndogg don't seem to be the kind that thinks that makes or breaks a metaller, unlike alot of Korn fans.

You are right kallis, I respect everyone and they opinions. Music is music, its all opinions. Me personally do not care what is harder than what. Or more "metal". I listen to good music that influences my everyday life. Or that helps me get through the day. Whether its country, southern rock, rock, nu metal, metal, or hip hop! Im a fan of music. Thats it.
And post 121, its all good. Maybe one day i will agree with some of your views. I will give you props......for only being a senior, you do seem pretty intelligent( and i mean that)!

Korndogg, on a real note, I don't actually care about someone's musical tastes (as much as I hate myself now for it, I was a big Korn fan)...I just think technically they aren't actually metal. Also apart from the spelling and grammar, and apart from the times you TRY to bash me, you do come off as a dude I'd have had a drink with before I recovered (I hit the bottle too hard, had to stop. But I can proudly say that in one night, I drank the remaining half of Coconut Rum, chugged a whole bottle of 151 after tearing off the firestopper, two full bottles of vodka, and a 40 without passing out or puking). That sh** kills no lie.
I also used to be in the Gifted programs in school. But I decided living life was more important than keeping my head in a book, so I just lost my mind for awhile. That's how I found Metal. I'm actually 19 and should've graduated in '07 but I made some mistakes and I'm paying for it in Alternative School. But apart from the rough times, I pull thru and plan on being in the Navy (as Kalis_wrath knows-and she really should get to flying her lady friends over here for me. I'm getting sick of the usual 'games' and psycho b****es I pull in the area. I'll even pay for a ticket.)
Korndogg, people like you and messenger give me something to do in my free time, keeping the verbal axe sharp is always good (Something fun to do: Find the best ways to ditch a broad when she gets clingy and psycho. Opening lines are nothing compared to the lines you have to use to cut them off. I usually try to be creative). Seriously, when I'm at home NOT rehearsing/recording, NOT at school or work, and NOT with my friends, coming here is especially fun when some a$$hole is trying to get the better of you, it keeps your wits about you. Honestly keep it up, who knows, I might actually get sick of it one day :-P
Now Playing: Patricia Kaas - Je Retiens mon Souffle (French R&B, its not metal, but its good stuff when you want something to calm down, or something to f*** to)

post 126 - sorry, i take everything back. after carefully reading your post 126 i now come to the conclusion that you're a psycotic jerk !!!! you def. give moronism it's true meaning. hey - why not start your own religion (moronism, of course) and you could be the moron pontiff. that would sound pretty good actually - pontifex maximus moronus !!!! that's latin for a$$ h0le - you idiot !
132. writes:
messenger, there already is a religion called Moronism. They just added an extra M to save face...
Korndogg, this is one thing I've noticed. On this site, we'll argue and bicker back and forth, and then eventually we all get along. We're like a family full of black sheep.

ok, i think we can all agree, politics and religion are all sh**. But, isnt this supposed to b a thread started by Geezer Butlers comment on the cowardly hunting of wolves, and Palins hypocritical views on said subject? im not pro life or anything, and in my opinion greenies/bleedinghearts have their heads up their arses, but shooting animals from planes regardless of whether or not their predatory animals, sport or not is a bit of overkill dont u think? btw, i think the mistaken spelling of Christf***er (post 58) is quite appropriate... lmfao

I have a very impressive p***s Kalis_wrath. This one girl I had once nicknamed it Behemoth ;-)
My place just sucks then, we get Morons AS WELL AS the Jehovah's Witless! Remind me to burn both the convents and the Church of Latter-Day Taints as well!
Die4Dethklok, LMAO ZEDONG!!!

I thought that wolves are part of an endangered species, correct me, if I am wrong. I believe that wolves are not violent animals..they do hunt in packs, however, they rarely attack humans..especially from a plane...haha...that fukkin' b**** can suck my Texas diXk. The wolf is a majestic creature honored and revered by Native Americans, and other tribes...Karma is going to come down hard on these hunters. I shot a bird with a shotgun once, but guess what, I didn't feel that great about it. It was cool shooting a shotgun for the first time, but it would have just as great shooting a paper target. I just don't see the excitement in killing animals. No mater what I say, though, or how I vote, the fukkin' Republicans are going to win the election because the U.S. is a fukked up country.

I doubt video proof exists Kali, but Alaskans are notorious for hunting animals they're not supposed to be harming. Polar bears, whales, seals.... But they're not the only hunters, obviously. Now, I'm not "anti-hunting" but I do see a difference between killing for necessity and killing for stature. If native americans could live WITH nature instead of living OVER nature, I don't see why we can't.

Wolves are a varmint in Alaska. They shoot them from airplanes because they need to be controlled like the pests they are and the terrain dictates a more efficient way of controlling the population. People need to stop knee jerking cuz they think they are cute furry puppy dogs that shouldn't be harmed. If they were in your backyard you'd probably have a different opinion. You realize it's illegal to keep a wolf as a pet in the ajority of the US? I wonder why?! Everyone's an expert at what should or shouldn't be done about problems that they don't have to live with. It isn't your problem. They decided in Alaska that it's a good idea.
