Alice In Chains Continues Work On New Material

It has been confirmed that Alice In Chains are now back to work on their new album, which will be the first album since their self-titled CD in 1995 and the first without vocalist Layne Staley.

Guitarist/ Vocalist Jerry Cantrell states: "We've been working about the last four months, and there's a good bulk of music and a good body of work so far, and we're having fun, and you know, we're taking our time and trying to figure out where William fits in and where we need to step up, and I have all the confidence in the world in the guys," he said. "The most important thing to me is that we're all together and, you know, it's been a tough and painful experience at times, but it's been very rewarding at the same time."

Cantrell has also said that the band has no plans for any live shows in 2008.

Curious to see how it will turn out...but I am a huge AIC fan so without Lane I have considerable doubts...

Jerry is freakin awesome. He's always been the rock (to me at least) in AIC. And his solo stuff is really underrated. Anyway, it might be his album to make or break.

Yeah Kalis, nobody can duplicate Lane and especially the symbiosis between Lane and Jerry. Their joined voices were fantastic, haunting...I'll give it a chance but it will have to be a perfect album...and I doubt that it will be a perfect album

I wish I was some super powerful necromancer. I would have already rose Layne from the dead. The grunge scene SUCKS without him.

I am excited about this new album. The new singer is pretty damn good, but of course, he cannot replace Layne. AIC always seemed to have such "dark" sh1t..which made them exciting, haunting..mysterious. Each album seemed to get "darker" and moodier.

An off note - but I am huge fan of cop shows...particularly Homicide - Life On the Street. I thought it was chilling that one suspect's name was "Layne Staley"...that episode was electrifying.
