Texas brutal death metal veterans Devourment have unexpectedly dropped a new EP, “Pious Impiety”, marking their first new release in five years.
The three-track effort features the title cut alongside “Mortiferous Dependency” and “Advanced Stage Decomposition”. Recording sessions were handled by Daniel Schmuck (Power Trip, Frozen Soul), who oversaw production, engineering, mixing and mastering duties.
In addition to its digital release, “Pious Impiety” is also available on 7-inch vinyl through Relapse Records.
Before embarking on a major North American tour this summer, Devourment will play a pair of warm-up shows at 1720 in Los Angeles, CA on June 20th and 21st. From there, the band will join Hatebreed, Snuffed On Sight, The Last Ten Seconds Of Life and Face Yourself on the opening leg of this year’s ‘The Summer Slaughter Tour’.
