Therion Members Depart For Their Own Projects

Band Photo: Therion (?)
Swedish metallers THERION have issued the following update:
"Today we have an announcement that will come as a shock to all of you. The four permanent members of the band have had some discussions and it is clear that we have different goals and visions for the future. Therefore it is best for the band, our selves as individuals and for the fans that we go separate ways now when there is still plenty of time before the next Therion album and World Tour. This means that Christofer will continue with Therion and the others will perform their music in other projects and bands.
We're all still friends, no one is disappointed and there's still some work we have left to do together in terms of editing of materials we have recorded for future DVD's.
Best regards to all of you and thank you so much for the wonderful support you have given the band during the time we have played together."

Sounds like a legitimate hiatus rather than a breakup. We may hear something from them again in the next 3-6 years.
This band has classical music sense like few others...I like -some- of the female vocals, what kills many of the songs for me were the "80's metal" style male vocals........The instrumental performances are in a class all their own though....I have tracks from virtually every album from Theili forward--I'll be fine without em for awhile.

Hm, seems like they basically just said "We aren't going to release another Therion album before we release another Therion album". If any of the members are actually going to be gone permanently, hopefully it's a good thing that will mean we won't get another "Gothic Kabbalah". I love Therion, but that album was incredibly dissapointing.

this kind of sucks cuz now who knows when we'll have another album but like post 1 says, christofer is therion. this band is amazing and its too bad theyre not big in the states. the average american is close-minded with original talented bands out of europe. i actually like gothic kabbalah alot but they did away with the opera/tenor singers singing solo which is why i prefer deggial, secret of the runes, and lemuria/sirius b. i got the chance to see them live in 05 thank god since now they wont be back to the states.

Therion you will be missed, but your music will live into the future and beyond, like remembermetal said this does sound more like a hiatus, since these guys have different goals, it's clear, that all off them are creative, and sometimes too much creativity leads to problems, while creativity is good, if there's too much, it can be bad, like this example, this band The Yardbirds, their not metal but their actions, proved all the members in this band had too much creativity, the lineup if I remember were Jimmy Paige, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck, they were all creative, but it was too much of it so they broke up, take a lesson from The Yardbirds, this may also clearly be the reason Therion broke up, Theli was one of their best albums, this band Therion, was very classical, more classical than most, that's one of the reasons why this band is so great, and I admit as an upcoming artist, I have some very noticable classical styles that are pumped into my upcoming band ODIUM, and classical is what makes alot of bands great, so when these men venture off for future goals, i'll be glad, to see any of there work, or whatever they may be up too, for now let's wish these men the best, and hope they have bright futures ahead of them
P.S. to the band members of Therion, GOOD LUCK!!!

Although I am a fan of the brothers, Christofer alone is Therion. The other members will be missed but the fact is they are replaceable. Therion fans should take a deep breath and know that things are going to be ok.
