IRON MAIDEN's official website has been updated with the following:

On the eve of the highly anticipated Australian leg of the Iron Maiden world tour, which will see the band play sold out arena shows in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in February, the support acts have been announced.

Legendary local metal band VANISHING POINT is confirmed as support on the Perth and Melbourne Iron Maiden shows. The band has produced four critically acclaimed releases and accolades too numerous to mention in a career spanning more than a decade. Consisting of five like-minded, yet distinct individuals, the members of Vanishing Point are among the elite who push boundaries, erase labels and dismantle the preconceptions of what a heavy metal band should be.

BEHIND CRIMSON EYES is support on the Sydney and Brisbane Iron Maiden shows. Sine 2005 the band has released two EPs and late last year they released their debut album A Revelation For Despair. The band has a massive following in Australia are primed to showcase their new album which is definitely the heaviest the band has ever sounded.

New UK artist LAUREN HARRIS and her band have been announced as the opening act on all Australian Iron Maiden dates. Twenty one year old Lauren Harris is the oldest daughter of Iron Maiden founder and bassist Steve Harris. Laura literally grew up on music and Maiden tours so it was only natural that she wanted make her own mark as an artist. She had just started singing in London's pubs when legendary British producer writer-artist Russ Ballard noticed her one night and hired her as the female voice for the new material he was writing. With the confidence this gave her she put a band together and over the last couple of years she has been touring extensively with Maiden and with other bands including WITHIN TEMPTATION and THUNDER, working on material and then recording between tours. It is expected that her debut album, full details of which will be announced soon, will be available online and at the shows for the start of the tour. They should stop touring with his kid... Better bands out there that would make for an awesome show.

I saw the show last night at Burswood, Iron Maiden were awesome. Lauren held her own and her band were pretty tight, chicks on lead vocals are always a hard sell but I reckon she deserves her spot on the tour. Vanishing Point were pretty good but sounded firmly stuck in the late 80's.

yeh what is up with the support acts. completely frustrating. Why not have 'Lord' or some awesome metal band as support acts. I wish that Vanishing Point was playing at Sydney even. Maiden will kick a$$ but I want something heavy!!
