Canadian Metal Fan Pleads Guilty To Church Arson

According to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada's Source, a 17-year-old Thunder Bay youth will return to court next month for sentencing after pleading to guilty to charges related to a bizarre arson case.

The young man was apprehended on October 14 after breaking into and setting fires at two Balmoral Street churches. Evidence heard in the case indicates the youth had been influenced by listening to heavy metal music and had learned to make the napalm used to set the fires on the Internet.

Damage to one of the churches was estimated at about $100,000 while the repair bill at the other was about $12,000. The accused was convicted Friday on two counts each of break-and-enter and arson. He'll be sentenced on February 20.

You'd be amazed how easy it can be to make napalm. Both me and one of my mates know but fortunately we're smart enough to keep it to ourselves and never actually make the crap. This guy has just kissed his life away.

Napalm is one part gasoline to one part soap shavings or styrofoam packing peanuts. It's probably the easiest thing to make in the world, but like Diamond Oz i have never made the stuff but the info is always there.

Wow...Thunder Bay, Ontario. I've played hockey there a few times. If that kid had something to do besides get drunk or shovel snow, maybe he wouldn't have done it. Ok he probably would've anyway. I really have no point here. F- it! Blame the parents!

Agreed, probably the parents fault. I guess that they didn't suspect little Timmy was up to anything when he started to reek like gasoline and large amounts of soap were disappearing. But, then again, he is 17 and at that age most people are able to realize that their actions have consequences. He was probably just an angry outsider who had no outlet for his issues.

Even I the Satanist and metaler think its stupid what he did. I dont know the parents are completly to blame as he is 17 and mentaly on his own now. I do, however question what they did try to teach him? Parents can try to teach right from wrong, but some people are just wired wrong no matter what.

of course they blame metal. but do they blame rap music when gangsters go out and shoot each other over drugs? of course not.

What the f*** are you talking about Dark_Funeral? They have been blaming gangsta rap for that for years ever since the days of early Ice T. Joe Lieberman and Tipper Gore made careers over the controversy they made over gangsta rap.

i was just trying to make a point, it just seems like the media takes a bigger stab towards metal than rap to me.

The media doesn't take any interest in music anymore, they've moved on to blaming video games. Besides this story I cannot recall anything that had to do with metal in recent (past 4-6 years) whereas I think of a ton of incidents where video games were blamed immediately. The media focused on metal when it was gaining popularity and then focused on rap when that was becoming popular. The media takes a bigger stab towards whatever can be used as the new scapegoat; in essence whatever they can make into the new "social issue".
