ARCH ENEMY, CANDLEMASS, ENTOMBED, CRASHDIET and HARDCORE SUPERSTAR are among the artists that are competing for the "Best Hard Rock" honor at the Swedish "Grammis" awards, which will be held January 9, 2008 at Globen in Stockholm. The bands have each been nominated for their most recent releases, all of which came out during 2007. The nominees are as follows:

ARCH ENEMY - Rise Of The Tyrant
CANDLEMASS - King Of The Grey Islands
CLAWFINGER - Life Will kill You
CRASHDIET - The Unattractive Revolution
DARK TRANQUILLITY - Fiction
ENTOMBED - Serpent Saints
HARDCORE SUPERSTAR - Dreamin' In A Casket
LILLASYSTER - Hjärndöd Musik Till En Hjärndöd Genaration
MUSTASCH - Latest Version Of The Truth
TAKIDA - Bury The Lies

Last year's "Grammis" award in the "Best Hard Rock" category was won by IN FLAMES for their "Come Clarity" CD.

In accepting the award, IN FLAMES frontman Anders Fridén asked the audience to get up on their feet.

"This is the third time IN FLAMES have won a [Swedish] Grammy and it feels extremely good," he said and joked: "Thanks a lot to the Swedish people, [distributor] Sound Pollution and all you people sitting down!"

I'm personally rooting for Dark Tranquility. I thought Fiction was amazing.

Nah I had a listened to the new Entombed and it wasn't anything special. To me both DT and AE are the most uninspired bands out there, they're just not trying anymore. Candlemass all the way.

Now Playing: The Lord Weird Slough Feg - "Cauldron of Blood"

I think Cynic was just saying that DT and AE's new discs were just the same old MDM they've been doing for the last 5 years. It's not bad, but they could add something or make it more memorable.

I love Swedish metal and the majority of those bands, but I'm gonna have to go with Arch Enemy cause Mike and Daniel are such badasses. And thank gawd the "bell of the ball", In Flames isn't nominated this year. It shouldn't be about how much a band has sold out.

well i havent listened to the new Arch Enemy cd but i can only hope that its better than Doomsday Machine however I loved Fiction by Dark Tranquillity but im gonna have to give the vote to Candlemass as King of the Grey Islands is amazin and I especially love Robert Lowe's voice on the rerecordings of At the Gallows End and Solitude inparticular

I actually prefer Arch Enemy's old singer, Johan Liiva. Better than Angela in my opinion

It's sad that Angela's best performance was on Wages. Rise of The Tyrant was a lot better than Doomday's processed vocals but I think I miss Wages vocals and all.
