Trivium Frontman Talks Next Album

TRIVIUM guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy has issued the following update:
"Matt here in Birmingham, UK. First day off The Black Crusade. UK/Euro leg of the tour has been completely unreal.
"The amount of killer friends showing up to all the shows is first of all, mindblowing... then, there's our fuckinjungle-gym-playhouse-for-metalkids-of-a-stage! It's the very stage all of us have always dreamed of- and i tell ya- it's a blast.
"So it seems like everyone's having a great time! All four of us band dudes and all the people rockin' in the crowds always have bigggg ass grins on their faces before, during, and after the show... this is just one big -party; and we're lovin it.
"SHADOWS FALL is fuckin rockin' out; ARCH ENEMY shredding the shit out of people; DRAGONFORCE... is... wellll.... holy shit, right?; and of course MACHINE HEAD!!! MACHINE FUCKING HEAD, enough said.
"So if you have an opportunity to come out to any of the shows, and for some reason aren't — you're crazy!! Come on out and have some fun with us.
"This tour is a complete dream come true and we are so happy and thankful for everything that is going on.
"Once this tour is over it's gonna be a very long while 'till we play any shows (unfortunately!); however, we gotta take the time to go and make the greatest TRIVIUM album ever (we have demoed lotsa tracks and so far... it's already, in demo form, shaping up to be the best material we have ever created.
"So 'till whenever I can see ya'll again (whether a show, hanging at a video game store, or whatever it may be)... take care!"

Trivium f***ing sucks, sadly can say I've seen them twice. and yes they f***ing suck!!!!
I saw them with Lamb Of God Gojira and Machine Head a while back, it still pisses me off that Trivium was direct support for Lamb Of God.... Machine Head should NEVER open for Trivium, hell even Gojira didn't deserve that.

the only reason they re where they are now is becasue his dad got lots of money,,, they suck, if ure from Orlando u know that. f***in POSERS!!! haha takin THRASH on their side and talkin about how their music is Thrash metal... f***in POSERS!!! lmao!! I will sh** on ur face lol just like the two girls one cup video . u & ur band f***in suck.

The only bands I like on this tour are Shadows Fall and Arch Enemy, and I don't think it'd be worth having to whitness the three other garbage-ass bands just to see those two that I like. And Yeah Trivium sucks ass, Machine Head sucks balls and Dragonforce sucks d***.

Hate all you want but their younger than most of you, shredding and soloing like crazy, playing shows with bands you people like, then they party with members of kick a$$ bands and hot chicks. They do all this while you people sit on your asses and talk trash (like what im doing now sadly) needless to say they must be doing something right, their not the best but their far from sucking d***

Yeah, they're popular so people will hate them. I love "Ascendancy" and here's hoping that their next album nixes the Hetfield impersonation (as #14 said) and gets back to business. I will say, though, that although I dig their albums, I saw them live once and they weren't good. Producer Jason Suecoff works wonders with Heafy's vocals, haha, because they are sad live. Matt and Corey do shred the dual guitars, though.

17. writes:
They have the talent, I just agree with post 14. They are misguided. They are young and still trying to find some direction which is understandable. I wish they would have stayed with their Ascendancy roots and built up on that. I hope they mature as a band and take a good course of action on their next album. If not i may have to give up on them.

who ever the hell bagged out machine head needed to be shot, trivium's album Ascendancy was a very good album, but this album the music was good but the voice it just not the same... so if they do go back to their old stuff i will be happy but i cant see them doing it

No doubt they're great musicians, these boys can play no doubt, however, just like Avenged Sevenfold, just because the musical ability is good, don't mean the songs are. They got so much potential and being so young they still got the time to sort a positive direction for themselves, hopefully with something fresh. As far as the journey from Ascendency to The Crusade goes, they went from being a band I didn't like and thought was overrated to a band I just plain hate.

Machine Head is quite overrated, I'm sorry if i'm pissin' anyone off here but they really do blow. The Blackening was the most boring generic album I've heard all year, and Trivium is even worse. Dragonforce is flat-out stupid, I don't get that joke. This looks like a pretty lame tour. Shadows Fall should be co-headling, that dissapoints me that they're supporting on this tour.

my friend won a leather jacket autographed by matt heafy, when he got it it was 200x too small and had the most half-assed signature on the back of it. I think they got too big too fast and its going to be a rude awakening for them when people stop buying their music.
As much as this band is terrible and overrated, D-Ozz basically summed up my opinions of trivicum. Incredible guitarists indeed. Drummer and bassist....not really.

WTF is with you people? Trivium are amazing, and i dont know what is with people saying that Matt Heafy should die..bit too much don't you think?
Yeah, Trivium are popular so what? but their still metal and i think everyone knows metal is never gonna be mainstream. Basically, with people slagging Trivium off, they obviously can't hate them that much because otherwise they wouldn't be writing comments about them. Tbh i think Trivium are one of the best bands ever, and i love whatever Trivium do. If people who liked ember to inferno and ascendancy, and don't like the crusade, stop going on about it, listen to Ember To Inferno and Ascendancy albums then.

I've seen Trivium 4 or 5 times & can honestly say that they absolutely blew me away.... ONCE. Once did they play their songs perfectly & the vocals sounded awesomme! And then I see em multiple times later & the sound is terrible.
I love Ember & Ascendency, & the Master of Puppets cover they did sounded sweet. But i was disappointed that he had to change his vocals the way he did on Crusade, that album is what Metallica wishes they wrote when they wrote St. Anger. although that didnt make it a good trivium cd

I agree with post 27, Machine Head are overrated, the blackening was sh**. I saw them at the Black Crusade in Aus and they were drunk most of the time they were playing so that made it even more boring, the most exciting part was when they covered 'f*** Her Gently' by Tenacious D.
Trivium are ok at times, fun to see live but The Crusade sucked f***ing balls. - Nuff Said
Arch Enemy f***ed all the other bands in the a$$ at the black crusade, they had the shortest set time but by far the best band there.

39. writes:
Post 37, i was at the black crusade in adelaide, i thought Machine Head were fairly good. Trivium: ok... i guess, not a massive fan though...
But i agree that Arch Enemy absolutely slayed, and that they deserved a longer set. A real pity trivium played for 1 hour but Arch Enemy only got 30 mins.. Ah well, it was a blissful 30 mins!!
40. writes:
I'm no fan but I believe they are one of the best "gateway bands" or "intro to metal" acts with any name recognition.
Their hearts are in the right place being fans of Machinehead, Metallica and Megadeth, rather than say A7X and they're GNR worship. I can't speak for they're live output.
This band has some growing up to do, if they don't make the next album the pop-fest (being on RR count on more pop though, Nickleback have taught that label that Radio-sh** sells) that The Crusade was they can win back some cred with time and effort.

41. writes:
It sucks that that tour cant come to canada, i would give anything to see every one of them all in 1 show. especially Trivium, Dragonforce and Machine Head, ive seen Machine Head and Trivium at the tour with Lamb of god, but with the other that would be intense.

47. writes:
Us talking sh** does not make a band more popular. We're not buying their albums, going to see them at shows, or doing anything to promote their longevity. Their label is able to push them in the market, I don't see how that has anything to do with us. We could all start talking sh** on a band who has no recordings or merchandise to sell, but they won't get popular. Why? Because they have nothing to push them and no one do it.
And define doing better? If you mean making better music then half this site can do that and probably does do that. But we're not signed to roadrunner because we can make an album that will sell to the general mainstream.
