Meshuggah Issues Statement About Tour Cancellation

To put their fans at ease, Meshuggah have made the following announcement on ther website (which is back up)

"We regrettably have to inform you that we have been forced to pull out of the November Euro tour with The Dillinger Escape Plan. There are several reasons for this. The main one being the fact that the album recording has taken longer than what was originally planned.

As an effect of that - NB has moved the album release to Jan/Feb of 2008.

In light of this we choose to not do a tour that could compromise the outcome of the album as well as possibly delaying the release even more.

Our intention was to have the album out in November and then do this as the first tour in direct support of the release. With this “album-promotional” aspect of the tour gone, we feel that we should instead focus on the most important thing at hand - the album!

We realize that this is a big disappointment to everyone who didn't have the opportunity to catch us on the European tour last summer but we will be back in 2008 touring the new album. Tourdates will be posted shortly!

Our apologies to the other bands on the bill and to all who already bought their tickets as well as those who were about to do so. The tickets are, of course, refundable.

Well that is amazing news!!!! This is not only great news because they are not breakin up, but also that there is a new album on the way. I can only wonder what the new album will be and sound like. It sounds like they are putting as much into it as possible, which for a band of their talent this album could be another metal masterpiece.

Please tour in the U.S. next year!!!!

Good. The breakup rumors had me nervous.

I can wait, though I'm still looking forward to the new material....Dillinger's new one will tide me over. I'm -still- playing Re-Nothing, I and Catch 33 regularly.

Fantastic band.

I like Meshuggah's older stuff myself. The 8-string guitars they use now give the band an awesome heavy sound on the newer albums, but I find after I while the music (more specifically on Nothing) becomes kind of monotonous. That said, I find the complexity of their beats and timing very intriguing, these guys are an excellent band. I would have been a sad day had they broken up.

Personally I think its a bit weak that they've cancelled the tour. A lot of people were seriously looking forward to them and DEP playing together. I'd rather wait for the new album, and see them live. From all thats gone on in the last few months, I doubt it will be that good anyways. Don't get me wrong I'm a massive fan, but if they're gonna become a band that f*** their fans around, then I'd rather them split and me remember them as they were.....awesome.

Live music always!!!!!!!!!!

Stocky thats just how meshuggah rolls. Everything Meshuggah has done and continue to do will always be for those 4 greasy greasy swedes and nobody else ( meh i spose d*** is full time now ).

Meshuggah just to their sh** and if you happen to catch a glimpse good for you. Man i live at the bottom of the world in New Zealand what do you think are my chances of seeing meshuggah anytime soon ?. I understand people are dissapointed but jesus least you get a chance.

I find it utterly f***ing ridiculous that people suspected a break up to begin with and themselves nto connuptions worrying. Meshuggah are the most stable band on the planet, tomas said they could never do a "some kind of monster" because they just dont fight.

Anyways i'm proud of the boys for sticking to their guns. They already regretted sacrifycing 'NOTHING' back on ozzfest, i'd rather they take all the time and really give me a meshuggah experience. Catch was a trip, cant wait.
