^I loved that you owned up to that. High five! hahah. Good work.
Tom had a point, no need to take metal too seriously, but at the same time, Parkway Drive really AREN'T overly good. It's basically your typical -core stuff. So far as I can see, they got big because they came from Byron Bay and because core is the scene nowdays.
Still, the new songs sound like they're trying to bring a bit more musicianship into their music, and that for me is a step in the right direction.
I want an old fvcked up Metallica shirt - Stylin' hahah :)

True that Parkway are nothing overly different to alot of other hardcore bands, but try coming from Australia and liking heavy music. We have no big metal or hardcore scenes. Just bands scattered around the place. We like Parkway because they are our heavy "legends". You have Slayer or Metallica. We have AC/DC, and they are not metal.

Thats true as well psythe about core being the scene. I just hate old metal-heads who sit there and pay out core bands because when they started to get into metal it was all the stuff that is considered to be "heavier" and they think that core bands are p***ies. Plus they're p***ed off coz their girlfriends are all ugly... hahahahahah

I'm from Oz, and don't you dare say sh** about Acca Dacca! They rock harder than a fair damn few metal bands these days do hahah. As I said, Parkway got big because they're from Byron Bay, which has a thriving core scene and is considered a pretty trendy town. Carpathian aren't from Byron, but they followed Parkway's wake and have a great standing in the Oz core scene. It needed the right situation to get Parkway anywhere, but they were in the right place at the right time, and the rest of Oz followed hahah.
As for who's heavier, oldschool thrash or newschool hardcore, the problem is really in the language. The term 'heavy' has kind of remolded itself in today's metal scene, it's not so much about virtuosity and anti-religious semantics anymore as it is about solid, consistent, rapidity of noise and the occasional breakdown to mix things up :P
