Within Temptation Tempt USA Over Slayer's Christ Illusion

Within Temptation's "The Heart of Everything" sold 7,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 106 on The Billboard 200 chart. The Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal band's first U.S. release for Roadrunner Records, "The Heart of Everything" has also topped the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

In contrast, Slayer's much-hyped re-release of the "Christ Illusion" album has failed to make a dent, having shifted a little over 2,300 copies since being reissued on July 24 through Columbia Records. This brings the total number of "Christ Illusion" copies sold in the U.S. to approximately 172,000.

Slayer's "Christ Illusion" reissue contains the previously unreleased cut "The Final Six", as well as an alternate version of "Black Serenade". It also boasts a bonus DVD called "Slayer on Tour '07" which includes the "Eyes of the Insane" video; a live rendition of the band's 1988 LP track "South of Heaven" that was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, on last year's "Unholy Alliance" run; and a behind-the-scenes, five-minute documentary-style montage of footage shot earlier this year when the band performed in Florida and Australia.

Of course that Slayer re-release has barely sold any copies. Who would want another version of a sh** album?

I don't think one new track and a gimmick DVD is enough to entice people who already bought the album to buy it again. The live songs are probably already available on concert DVDs anyway. 5 minutes of behind the scenes footage? WOW. This must've been the label's doing.

It's usually never the bands decision saying "hey let's get this remastered so that we have more money to pay off to the record company!" This would be a huge waste if you already own the album unless you're a huge fan. I wouldn't want to spend $15 for something I already have. Just my two cents.

I have to agree. It was a weird comparsion for the chart keepers to make...its suprising to some to see veteran bands fail at sales for some reason...there is really only one band that can take a sh** and sell a million copies of it to the continued amazement of all...

It was a re-release essentially. I wonder how many the others typically sell. I've only considered getting a few ever when I already have the initial album release. And even though I've considered them, I've actually picked up exactly zero so far. By all means, if you don't have Christ Illusion yet, pick up the new Special Edition, but otherwise, it's probably not worth $15 more of your money.

because Coco and Red Devil got mercilessly pwned by Kmadd and Zyklon Man so many times they gave up because they are a bunch of crybabby c*** scab wiggers who listen to KoRn and Trivium.

Christ Illusion wasn't all that great an album. That may explain the reason it didn't sell well. GHUA was much better.
