The Dillinger Escape Plan are preparing to begin recording their new album with producer Steve Evetts (Every Time I Die, Sepultura). An update on that, complete with various behind the scenes footage, can be found here. A fall/winter release date through Relapse is expected.

Can't wait....
To this day I'm still catching new little nuances and quirks from Calculating Infinity and Miss Machine that I never noticed. Fun stuff.

Fxck yeah. I saw them open for Coheed & Cambria and I almost got into a fight because I was the only person there to see Dillinger. I was super-tanked and I moshed some 15 year old kid and his girlfriend right in the face.

I thought these guys started recording this album a while ago, though.

Writing and pre-production went back almost a year I think, maybe more.
I'm glad though, part of the reason each of their records and ep's are so interesting is the band has so long to write so much into each song. One of the most anticipated "big name" albums of the year for me (up there with Porcupine Tree, Dimmu, Behemoth, SF and Pig Destroyer and Dark Tranq)

Now Playing: Converge - "Jane Doe"

Crawford, I was about to start sh** with you for going to a Coheed and Cambria concert until I read the rest of it. Moshing is only fun when there's no skinheads. I got my a$$ beat when I went to Ozzfest. I mean, I'm a big kid but when you got like 5 skinheads who can all lift up cars it's scary. Well, back on topic, I do want to get this new album.

Now Playing: Down With The Sickness - Disturbed

Yeah, trust me. I'd nover go to a Coheed & Cambria show with the intention of seeing Coheed & Cambria. I was there strictly for DEP. I was astounded that almost nobody was into them but me. It was amazing to be listening to them play, and then be put into a fight-or-flight situation like that. It was pretty intense. I highly recommend that anyone tries to get into a fight at a DEP show. It's like it's in the air! That b1tch was lucky that I don't punch short fat 15 year old chicks with way too much makeup on, but it sure as hell would've felt good to unleash my fury right on the bridge of her nose. I know it might sound corny, but it was like the music was making me numb to my own compassion and fear. But then again, I was so fxcking wasted that I could've p***ed myself and never noticed it, so there ya go.

This band is really awesome. The more I hear their ablums to more I'm moving to think that Miss Machine is their weakest, but its still a good album. I think this band will keep progressing in a Mike Patton sort of way and their next album should hopefully be out of this world. This album is a big release for this year, but unlike other big albums to come out like Behemoth's I'm most worried about this one.
