Metal Blade Records’, San Diego metal outfit, As I Lay Dying have announced "An Ocean Between Us" as the official title for their highly-anticipated follow up to 2005’s "Shadows Are Security."
The majority of "An Ocean Between Us" was recorded at vocalist Tim Lambesis’ home studio aptly named Lambesis Studio in San Diego, California. Adam Dutkiewicz (Underoath, All That Remains, The Acacia Strain) of Killswitch Engage collaborated with As I Lay Dying on all recording and production duties and Colin Richardson (Sepultura, Machine Head, Slipknot) will be overseeing the final mix.
As I Lay Dying have the following song titles set - Separation, Nothing Left, Within Destruction and title track An Ocean Between Us right now. More will be announced in the near future.
As I Lay Dying is: Tim Lambesis ( Vocals), Phil Sgrosso (Guitar), Nick Hipa (Guitar), Jordan Mancino (Drums) and new bassist Josh Gilbert. Josh joins the band from THIS ENDEARING, a local band in his hometown of Birmingham, Alabama. “Based on hearing Josh's previous band, we knew he was a great bass player and singer. But, when he came out to San Diego to try out and rehearse with us, he ended up exceeding our expectations. Shortly after the try out we invited him to come back and fill in for us on our January UK tour. That tour really solidified the fact that Josh is the right guy for us.,” says Lambesis of Gilbert’s addition to the band.

maybe its a Christian meaning? i dont know i got no problems with Christian Metal bands, and how does that sound like emo, i think emo is the stupid sh** ever, i mean name music without emotion in it, the whole concept doesnt make sense, even within hardcore punk. i dont know thats just me.

I guess this album should be interesting, in some interview Tim said the band felt they were "jaded" by the whole metalcore scene and how everything sounds the same so they tried some different styles. I love AILD but their genre is a bunch of the same breakdowns and riffs. If they finally realized it hopefully their music can only get better from here. According to Tim it's their fastest album yet, but fast doesn't always merit good...we'll have to see...
The release date I believe is August 21st for those who don't know.
