Slipknot Drummer Joey Jordison To Tour With Korn

SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison has confirmed rumors that he will sit behind the kit for KORN this summer. "I'm lucky to have had the opportunity to perform with bands that have influenced me as a musician over the years," Joey said. "When I first heard KORN they blew me away and I have been a fan ever since. I'm looking forward to playing drums with these guys for the next five months!"
Joey will go straight from tour bus into the studio to continue work on the new SLIPKNOT CD which will surface in 2008.
KORN's management confirmed earier in the month that temporary drummer Terry Bozzio had completed his work on the band's new record and is no longer working with the group. Bozzio, a legendary drummer known for his work with MISSING PERSONS and Frank Zappa, plays on some but not all tracks on the album. Brooks Wackerman of BAD RELIGION played with the band several weeks ago at a youth volunteer show in Los Angeles.
Bozzio replaced founding drummer David Silveria in January, after Silveriaannounced at the end of 2006 that he was taking a "hiatus" from KORN for at least one album and tour.
KORN's eighth studio effort is due this summer. The band will headline the 2007 Family Values tour starting in mid-July, with EVANESCENCE, HELLYEAH, ATREYU, TRIVIUM and FLYLEAF also on the bill. The on-sale date for most of the shows is April 28.

Noones jealous..Where are you getting that?
I didn't say he hates(or should hate) Korn, I'm saying he can play circles around anything David Silveria's ever done. He's a vastly superior drummer. It's like a professional athlete standing in for a gradeeschool kid in little league. I don't like most of Slipknots work but Jordison is almost inhumanly good.
Now Playing: The Dillinger Escape Plan - "Sunshine the Werewolf."

^^^ I agree, except I like Slipknot. Joey is definitely one of the best drummers around right now. The drum solo he does on their DVD Disasterpieces is f***ing awesome!!! It's a shame he isn't doing anything good on his own right now, not filling in. Murderdolls was his right? Didn't care for them and that didn't showcase any of his talents anyway

Just because the drumming on korn's songs are simple that doesnt mean Silveria is a bad drummer, perhaps behind closed doors he can do better, but korn isn't about fast drumming like slipknot, they have a much bigger hip hop influence and thats why the bass and drumming is how it is. Besides Jordison is far from being in the top drummers in modern music, maybe he is good compared to most bands that find their way into mainstream but not compared to say Derek Roddy or Daniel Erlandson. Having said that I havent heard Joey behind closed doors, but his efforts at drumming death metal on the roadrunner all star sessions was not great. The main point is though whoever is better or has the more technical music Joey wants to do it, no one has forced him too, and I doubt he needs money or publicity.

What the f*** are you guys talking about? David is an amazing drummer. Need I remind you he would have in some small way influenced Jordisons playing. Joey plays boring a$$ double pedal sh**e that anyone can play and his solo is full of nothing but doubles and triples(easy, easy, easy!!!). You should check out Korns self titled and life is peachy, the drums are very well thought out and interesting.
ps. I do love Joey but you guys shouldn't badmouth david, he kicks a$$ and has much more talent than the rest of his band!!! See you next album,David.

Wow!! Too many people sh***ing on drummers, "good" or "bad". It's messed up how people react to how others think,at all or or in general. Most "metalHeads" take Metal to seriously, I know it's not just a style of music, It's A Way Of Life! Most people should just calm down! Why do others care so much who drums for who?!?! I would love the offer or even the chance to ask to step in for someone for Korn or slipknot. Bashing a drummer when you can't even chew gum and walk at the time is really very low! Moving four (4) limbs at the same time while keeping time to start off is not easy, lots of time is needed to be able to do so. And nothing is wrong with making money humans need food, water and shelter to live. How or where you get the money to be able to those things really should not matter. People need to live making music is a JOB, it's a fun JOB, but it's still a JOB!
p.s.support metal no matter what sub-gener it is, rap and most other types of music just does not cut it!!

You're right, it's Joey's choice. I respect his choice. But musicians like challenges. If they didn't they wouldn't be in such a competitive field. Korn's drumming can be done by a high school band geek. They could've hired a drumtech who needs the money to live as you say. But, no, they hire the drummer who will sell the most tickets.

Post 28 is supporting his own post under another name in post 29. Mom must be proud of her one boy consensus.
Yeah, there are many many more drummers who eclipse Jordison.
Brann Dailor (Mastodon) Dan Carrey (Tool) Gene Hoglan (SYL) Chris Pennie (DEP) and the mighty Martin Lopex (Ex-Opeth) just to start.
Still, Jordison is a leap and bound beyond in creative execution speed and fills. I'm not picking on Silveria, he's quite capable even important but he pales in contrast to Jordison.
It's excessive force, like bringing an Abrams tank to a food fight.
Now Playing: DEP - "The Mullet Burden"

antihippy
True true, especially since I've listened to a few tracks off Nothing and Catch 33 today. What he does on "I" alone is brain wrenching (though that snare sounds like absolute sh** and is too high in the mix).
Now Playing: Dimmu Borgir - "The Serpentine Offering"

Drummers Superior to Joey Jordison: Corey Pierce of God Forbid, Thomas Haake of Meshuggah, Dave McClain of Machine Head, Matt Kuykendall of All Shall Perish, Chris Adler of Lamb of God, Austin D'Amond of Bleed the Sky, Henrik Ohlsson of Scar Symmetry, Daniel Erlandsson of Arch Enemy, and I'm positive I missed a lot.

^ill help fill in wat uv missed,
Gene Hoglan of Death, Dark Angel, and SYL; Dave Lombardo of Slayer; Nicholas Barker of Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, and Lockup; Adrianne Erlandsson of At the Gates, The Haunted, and Cradle of Filth; Inferno of Behemoth; Pete Sandoval of Morbid Angel; and Trym of Enslaved, Emperor, and Zyklon

Hey now, don't forget Kirk Arrington from Metal Church! Don't expect any super highly technical rocket science or blast beats at 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 mph, but just listen to Merciless Onslaught and you'll see that the dude can hold his own for sure.
67. writes:
blamehoffman, why the hell are you telling me to go listen to Avril Lavigne? Because I said that the guy from Converge isn't the best drummer? And yes Slipknot was successful, I'm not that biggest fan and I think they're okay. If they weren't successful they would've been done awhile ago. Avril Lavigne isn't called for on this site.
69. writes:
If technical is the mark...
Sean Reinhart (Cynic, Death)
Gene Hoglan (Death, Dark Angel, SYL)
Asgeir Mickelson (Vintersorg, Spiral Architect, Ihsahn)
Bobby Jarzombek (Spastic Ink)
Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy)
And if you have to hear one Metal Church song make it the song "Metal Church" - One of the most kick a$$ riff you'll hear.

Basic drum beats don't mean you're better than anybody and that's exactly what Korn is. We don't know exactly what Silveria can do because he doesn't do anything that's impressive in Korn. Look how easy they've been finding people to take his place while he's on break.
72. writes:
I must admit Slipknot are far better than Korn as there Hip Hop influenced sound grows tiresome. As for Slipknot they can take their sound much further. I just wish they would produce something like Iowa again. I would expect their next album to be more commercial like any band that's been granted there videos on MTV.
74. writes:
I definitely do agree with you and a lot of pepopel would and should agree with you that Slipknot should go back to how they used to sound but it won't happen. And unfortunately their new album whenever it comes out probably will be more commercial, especially since Corey's scream seems to have deteriorated a bit since he got over his alcoholism.

78. writes:
oh man ok first off andrew, SLIPKNOT and KORN fans are some of the best and loyal! and both bands are amazing live! yes their sound has changed but get over it every artists music will change over time. when you try to compare SLIPKNOT and KORN I would say that SLIPKNOT is the more talented band but they cant acheive what KORN has already done.

Bottom line is there are a million drummers superior to Jordison....
but Jordison is still climbing into a highchair by playing with Korn. Halfway through the set he's going to wonder when he can sit at the grownup's table.
Make no mistake, Slipknot are no champions of technical skill but Jordison -is- allowed to push his mental/physical limits, which of course is one of the things I like most about this drummer among others....metal, prog, rock, jazz etc.
Now Playing: Unlord - "Torch the Bastards"

Another overqualified drummer....
I'll bet Godsmacks Tommy Stewart is strolling around Boston with cardboard sign that says "will drum for money". He's a perfect match, Jordison will be yawning with his spare hand covering his mouth throughout the whole set.
