VELVET REVOLVER has recorded cover versions of TALKING HEADS' "Psycho Killer" and ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA's "Can't Get It Out Of My Head" during the sessions for the group's sophomore album, "Libertad". It is not presently clear where the cover songs will end up, but drummer Matt Sorum reportedly said he hopes at least one of them makes the new CD because "they're both bitchin'."
In other news, VELVET REVOLVER has finished recording "Libertad" with producer Brendan O'Brien. "The last day in the studio was yesterday ....sniff.... sniff.... and now all that's left to do is finish mixing," guitarist Dave Kushner wrote on his web site. "I can't even express to u people how f%@$n' awesome it sounds!!!!! All the tracking is done. Just some last-minute vocals and finish mixing. It's gonna be a good one!"
A recent VELVET REVOLVER "vlog" (videoblog) featuring footage of the band working on "Libertad" has been posted online at this location (Quicktime required).
The Norwegian web site of VELVET REVOLVER's record label is now listing June 4 as the international release date for the band's second album, "Libertad", which would make the North American arrival date June 5. The site previously listed a mid-May release date for the disc. The label has not yet announced any official release date for "Libertad".
VELVET REVOLVER has been recording "Libertad" since the beginning of 2007 in a Los Angeles studio.
The group is tentatively scheduled to visit South America in April with AEROSMITH, followed by a U.S. theatre tour in May.
