Slayer's Kerry King On Metallica and Politics

Band Photo: Metallica (?)
AZNightBuzz.com has published a few assorted quotes from SLAYER guitarist Kerry King ahead of the band's appearance next Wednesday (Jan. 24) at the Tucson Arena:
On President Bush:
Kerry King: "Everyone in the world's laughing at him. I don't really pay too much attention to politics, but I do know that."
On politics:
Kerry King: "I don't understand politics — and I like it that way."
On super-producer Rick Rubin, who worked with SLAYER on several albums in the 1980s and 1990s:
Kerry King: "I'm surprised he's going to be doing the (next) METALLICA record because I don't know how he's going to right that sinking ship."
On Dec. 8, the anniversary of the murder of PANTERA's Dimebag Darrell:
Kerry King: "From now on, that's going to be 'Drunk Day' for sure."
On the meaning of Christmas:
Kerry King: "Christmas isn't about religion. Christmas is about presents, if you ask me. I know originally it was supposed to be about the birth of Jesus, but anymore? It's about capitalism and hey, I'm all about getting presents."

I wanted to see them when they hit DC in Feb. But sadly it ain't happening.
Dudes, you gotta love Kerry King, knows nothing except about playing guitar and making money, but he's got a weird lovability to him. Because even though he knows little about the world, somehow, he's still right when he talks about sh*t...He keeps sh*t simple

I have a lot of respect for King. . .as a musician. . . hes in a decent band after all.
But fukked if im going to take seriously the opinion of someone who openely claims to know so little about so much. What amazes me though is everyone in here is doing just that. I never knew fanboys existed on this web page until this article came up. Its one big suck Kings kok fest in here.
Like someone said before, he knows nothing except how to play guitar and make money. . . another reason im surprised, hes making money guys! Why dont you jump and call him a sell out?? Because of course if you actually make more money than the average joe by playing metal you automatically become a corporate sell out thus become worthless in the eyes of all of us in here. He doesnt seem so "refreshingly clueless" about that.
But no matter. . . the second coming is upon us gentleman. Drop all your belongings put on your jeans and black t- shirt, face SF and bang your head hard, because you will all buy the new Metallica album the second its released. Nostalgia aside, I think this is going to be a great album. A metal fan will always buy a Metallica album and feel its importance, wether its MOP, or even Reload heaven forbid. That band deserves way more respect than this c*** who openly claims to know sh** about sh**. Id much rather support a band who has grown up since 83 and learnt a thing or two about life, and incidentally loves to make a sh**load of money. You call that selling out. . .I and the rest of the world call that human nature. . . and smart. All bullsh** aside, quite simply they write music that I like and that Metallica fans like.
I dare you all to like the new album.

Ignorance is bliss, I suppose. Glad to see the whole, "innate human quest for knowledge and a better understanding of what happens in the world around us" thing isn't a problem for you.
But in the same breath, I can honestly say that as much as I tend to get into politics, it's not really worth it anymore. I don't care what anyone says, one person cannot make a difference in this country (by "this country", I'm referring to the United States, where I reside). At least not as this country exists today. The people who run this country are not politicians. They're the people who have long since bought and paid for every political seat in all three branches of government on all llocal, state, and national levels. This same group of people also own all the important land in the US, as well as all the major media outlets, meaning they get to pretty much control what news and information you get to hear. Any guesses from the metalunderground faithful as to who this group of people might be?

uh...kerry, did you watch the tape of the jimmy kimmel performance?...not that f***ing impressive!
those are some bold statements from somebody who hasn't done anything original since reign in blood! all of slayer's best work was produced by rick rubin anyways.
why the f*** is he talking sh** anyways? what's the f***ing point? we all know metallica isn't what they used to be, but all you f***ers scorch your shorts every time somebody says metallica sucks.
some things never change...slayer will keep putting out the same record over and over...zakk wylde will keep using way too many f***ing pinch harmonics, and metallica will keep sucking.
one thing's for sure, neither will EVER have the musical impact that metallica has had...period.
all the sh** talking in the world won't change that!

Heh heh... Amish butterchurning factories.
Just in case there was someone who couldn't figure out exactly who runs the United States, it would be the fortune 500 business billionares. These people own nearly all the major media outlets, so it becomes a large bulletin board for the stuff they want you to take in. And if there's a piece of information they don't want you to know about, they may report it, but it will come in the form of a short soundbite with biased reporting and zero followup reporting. And as far as the land ownership and government payoffs and bribes, I've already gone into that once and see no reason to do so again. In this country, the game is rigged, and no one seems to care. The people here buy all the latest technologies, ritualistically attend church, overeat, they do whatver can to make themselves subconsciously and passively accept the system that threw them overboard 30 years ago and now f***s them in the a$$ every day of their lives.
It's the Golden Rule: He who has the gold, makes the rules.
And one more quick note: I may sound cynical, but truth be told I like my country and I'm proud to live here. The problem is, I am sometimes embarassed by those in power and in control; embarassed by those who I have to be unfortunately represented by. But that's a far piece form actually hating this place.

Some of the strongest patriots in the world are that way because they hate the way their country's being run. Anyway, those bastard Amsih! I went out to get some bloody milk and all of a sudden, I get cut up by this horse and cart! I said "I ain't bleedin' 'avin that!" So I said "Excuse me mate, you just cut me up!" He replied, "Yonder more! Churn the butter!" I said "You f***in' what mate?" He said the same thing. SoI nutted him (headbutted) and he goes down long enough for me to put a designated virus under his cart. Now his whole village shall be destroyed! Mwuahahahaha!!!

Remember Metal? Sr Anger was an attempt at being 18 years old again. I was referring more to the Black Album and the drastic change that it brought about (shouldve been more specific). That was a conscious decision they made to broaden their appeal. You and I probably dont think it was necessary, the formula they HAD is the formula we all wish they had now. But I dont feel jipped or resentful that they decided to change the formula to appeal to more people. IF ANYTHING, that one album has done more for turning people onto metal than all of their previous albums combined. . . all of a sudden more people were starting to take notice of the value of the music and getting onto the REALLY good stuff like MOP. Load and Reload appealed differently again. It turned people onto them (not as many as previous) but it made them money.
I agree, St Anger was a false start in returning to 'their roots' so to speak. It was an attempt at being 18 again, and it didnt come off. They have grown up and shouldnt have to be writing the same thing, in fact it would be dishonest of them to do so, if that means that they are rendered unable to write music like they used to that all us metal fans love I personally dont give a f*** because I dont want to hear an album that Ive heard before, released with a new name and cover.
The experiments are over, new bass player, new producer and the writing formula that got them so much success is back. Were going to be hearing some kick a$$ metal by the end of this year. The time is right to release their next big album. No one here has said that they HOPE the album flops. We all want it to be good. And it will be.

Oz, you obviously are not aware of the fact that the Amish, while behind in the times and a quiet, peaceful bunch, are also immune to most man-made viruses....
They shall not be destroyed so easily..!!! It will take something far more sinister than this...!! Perhaps, Lord Cashington, and his mighty army of elastic band wielding soldiers will have a plan... Light the signal fires....call for the troops...we shall strike in the pre-dawn hours....that is when they are at their weakest point...!!! They are exhausted from all of the butter churning and their horses are weary from the long night of entertaining the young Amish boys...

38. writes:
The master plan has been foiled by those wily Amish again...!!!
Hezakia, Zebulon and Jedidiah are rallying the troops...
And Lord Cashington and his noble soldiers have not even made an appearence...Damnit, the battle shall be over before it has even begun...
Tis only the first of many battles in this war.... I can assure you...muhahhaha

To those trying to blow the trumpet of Metallica - remember this!!!!
Metallica rose to fame and fortune via tape traders - the unbderground way to get your music heard.
Once Metallica 'made it' what do they do - start on Napster, the current day traders can listen to new and upcoming bands as no label sees these bands economically feasible.
I was once a huge Metallica fan, but they can not right the wrongs they have done with their own hand...even with Rubin looking over things. Not that Lars the control freak will let Rubin have much say...I'm sure Rubin will come out of this and think "Why did I bother???"
As for Kerry - take what he says and laugh, because that's what I did. But the comments about Dimebag and good old Bush....cannot fault him on those.

I was being sarcastic dude, the point being that making money and selling out are one and the same thing. . . within the confines of this room and the minds who contribute to it anyway.. And I dont get it, what do you mean who am I? Am I not entitled to the opinions Ive voiced?

Time for another prediction about those f***ing Amish methinks. And yay, the Amish did arm themselves with butter churners and funny hats but yay, realised the error of their ways minutes before the metalunderground army pillaged their village (rhymin' sh** right there homes!) but was too late as they didn't change clothes and the mighty MU army kicked f*** out of them.

44. writes:
But one can not forget that the mighty Amish are a resilient bunch...
They have survived for eons with only their horse drawn carriages, considerable body odors and funny hats...!!
And mind you, this is a very noble clan, that has only their inbreeding talents to rely on for repopulating their numbers...

46. writes:
You gotta watch out though.. WErid Al may come to the aid of the Amish, with his lyrical rhymin skillz.. and not to mention the kingpin Munsun..
The Metal Army may take many casualties before the war is over..
We shalt attack to the Tune of Bolt Thrower - Eternal War

47. writes:
Let it not be forgotten, that the meek and noble Amish, in their blue and black uniforms and unkempt beards, have many undergound supporters betwixt their numerous colonies..!!!
We shall tread lightly in the lands of the butterchurners...for it is these traitors that we must watch out for..in this war that is waged on the lowly Amish...!!
I myself, am in the midst of fasioning myself a pair of homemade trousers....and I shall, from this day forward, let my facial fair grow to an unsightly length...!! Perhaps, I shall infiltrate the enemies stronghold and sabotage their muskets with the introduction of the mighty termite...
I shall march to the sounds of the immortal Black Sabbath- Mob Rules...!!! And at the end of each battle I shall entertain my hostages with the sounds of - Electric Funeral...

48. writes:
And yay it was said that another acceptable battle song would be Let There Be Death by the mighty Onsalught! And yay, the Amish did not expect to hear the likes of Sabbath, Bolt Thrower and Onslaught and surrendered. But the MetalUnderground army was too brave fr this and defeated the Amish with ease!

More Metallihating!! This time from another artist. Slayer and Zakk Wylde both can say whatever they want, bit it doesn't mean there right. Like I've said before...Mainstream music of today is hip hop. metal although never really considered mainstream, has truely had it's big day in history. What pisses me off is this notion that any of the stuff we read is really the real deal. THERE IS NOTHING METALLICA HAS EVER DONE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THESE JEALOUS AZZ OPINIONS. METALLICA HAS ACCOMPLISHED MUCH MORE THAN ZAKK AND SLAYER COMBINED. THIS IS A BAND THAT HASN'T OPENED FOR ANOTHER BAND FOR ABOUT 19 YEARS NOW!! THE SAD PART IS IF JAMES HETFIELD AND KERRY KING RAN INTO EACH OTHER, MY GUESS IS THEY WOULD BE RESPECTFUL AND FRIENDLY TO EACH OTHER. ALSO, AS METAL FANS WE SHOULD KNOW WHAT'S REAL AND WHATS FAKE. EVEN IF KERRY THINKS METALLICA IS SINKING OR HAS SUNK........SLAYER WILL NEVER ATTAIN THE SUCCESS METALLICA HAS HAD.
In addition to all of that every real fan of the band Metallica, will be anxiously awaiting the new cd. It appears to me, fans and fellow musicians alike just haven't APPROVED OF THE BUSINESS SIDE OF METALLICA..SO TO ATTEMPT TO PUT A LEGEND DOWN HERE COMES ALL THESE PETTY COMMENTS. I'LL ADMIT..THE SOME KIND OF MONSTER MOVIE REVEALED MORE THAN I WANTED TO KNOW, BUT IT WAS THERE CHIOCE TO MAKE IT. JUST LIKE WHEN SOME PEOPLE KEEP WHINING ABOUT THE PRODUCTION QUALITY OF ST ANGER, BUT FOR GET ABOUT THE FREE LIVE PERFORMANCE DVD THAT SAVED THE WHOLE CD. THAT DVD IS WHY REAL MET FAN'S LOVE THEM. THEY PLAY EXTREMELY WELL TOGETHER. THE ONLY SHIP METALLICA HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SINK IS ONE LOADED WITH THERE MONEY!! It's sad when a memeber of your own peer group resorts to stupid stements just for a crack!! I think success of this band has allowed some to people to be negative about them, but you have to respect this band.

Take that Amish! Defeated by logic once more! Hang on, how are you on MetalUnderground if you don't have electricity? Yeah The Thing was a great film. Also you can never go wrong with Nightmare On Elm Street series, well if you discard 4 and 5. 6 made me laugh and 7 was a bad attempt at a good idea. Personally I liked Freddy VS Jason but it seems like a guilty pleasure since most other fans hated it.

While the black album is for many fans (and myself) the first indication of Metallicas downward plummet, I agree with you 100% on the Black album. I can't tell you how many people I started on metal with that particular album...
I am indeed crossing my fingers for the new album but I'm not expecting to be born again. The two songs I've heard so far are not encouraging but they were still under development when played live.
Anything can happen.

kerry king is a stupid a$$hole. St. angers crap is alot better then any thign he has done. For one Metallica the best band ever can actually solo. kerry king is a fat retrard and should die. For the last time SLayer sucks they contriubted nothign to metal. They sound like sh**, play like sh** and make comments about other bands and how they suck and look at them with thier random guitar solos, lack of vocals and over all sh**ty band. and i dont care what you guys say slayer sucks and always will.

"slayer sucks" is probably some stupid wigger who got tired of listening to his sh**ty music, started listening to nu metal, thinks he knows what the f*** he's talking about, and now is attempting rip on good bands to make himself feel smart about something (god knows he isn't smart about anything else). in response to this post he will say in some way the two words "f*** you" and prove my point even further by using his frighteningly low vocabulary and even lower IQ level to make a babbling attempt to insult me.

Because Metallica isnt ever going to "kick metal's a$$" ever again...Not unless they re-release Master of Puppets and somehow make it better...!!! and what is the chances of that..???
About as slim as the chance that you'd ever see an Amish electrician...

Here we are, still poking fun at the electricly challenged..!! and this all started back in post 22..!!

On a more personal note...
I cant imagine living without electricity, I lose my internet for a day, and I'm bummin.. lose the power during a storm, yeah its happened and it sucked..!! Forget to pay the bill and they shut off the power...yep, been there....But living without power 24/7..!!! I'd rather punch myself in the nuts on an hourly basis, than live without metal..!!
