MJS Music Publications has set a February 2007 publication date for "A Vulgar Display Of Power: Courage And Carnage At The Alrosa Villa" (cover), a new book by author Chris A. The official book description follows:
On December 8th, 1980, a lone gunman took the life of John Lennon, one of rock 'n' roll's most iconic personalities. Almost to the minute, 24 years later, heavy metal's most beloved guitarist, Dimebag Darrell Abbott, was tragically murdered while performing at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus Ohio. It was a night filled with tragedy yet offset by exceptional heroism. Jeffrey "Mayhem" Thompson, Erin Halk and Nathan Bray each lost their lives while trying to aid Dimebag and protect the lives of hundreds of people from an armed killing machine. "A Vulgar Display of Power" tells the true story of the events leading up to the tragic murders. Look guys, I know we all would want a biography of our late and great Dime, but even now, do you think Dime would want all the attention on him? I seriously doubt it. I'm sure he'd want the others who died along with him remembered as well...I'm not just talking out my a$$ either, but think about it, Dime was the type of person who wasn't self-absorbed or anything, though his personality was outgoing, he was also very modest of his gifts, and simply said, "I just like playing guitar" (Maybe not a direct quote, but you get what I mean)...But yeah, I'm glad the book came out, and I'm very sure, that the life of Dime will be written soon enough...

What I like about it, is it covers the other people that died that night as well as the Metal God Himself.
I doubt I would read it to be honest though.
Dimes death is, and always will be in the back of my mind...
It's tough at times just thinking about him, much less reading.

Who knows, maybe some time down the road my son might want to read it "or maybe even his" ... to learn more about a Heavy Metal Legion and the other great people that lost there life that night.
