Napalm Death have posted the following message explaining why their show on Dec. 21st at the Knitting Factory in New York City was cancelled:

"hey guys, many, many apologies for the show being cancelled. basically acording to the kniting factory they had had a few shows in recent weeks which had resulted in people getting seriously hurt. because of these events they decided to cancell the next few weeks of hardcore/metal shows untill the recent events reach an outcome. so very sorry for that as we were looking forward to the show, hopefully we will be back over soon"

This better not be the beginning of the end. I was at the Asbury Park show we a friend and was hit for no reason during a break in an opener's set. It's stupid hardcore gangs like FSU that show up at these shows and cause problems and hurt people for no reason. The metal/hardcore scene was NOT LIKE THIS when my friend and I got in a few years ago! If you're going to go to shows and hurt people for no reason, then don't come, we don't want you. I understand getting hurt in the pit happens, but it's supposed to be about going to a show and having a good time and helping people if they get hurt in the pit. Not about beating each other sensless for no reason other than to inflict harm.

I agree with you %100. I have been going to metal/hardcore shows for years in the NY/NJ area and it only takes one d*** to mess it up for everyone. At Gigantour this year I saw a kid get smashed for absolutely no reason. Some douche came from way in the back of the pit, hit the guy and then ran away. What a p***y! If you have some kind of problem with someone take it outsid eof the venue. Let the rest of us enjoy the show and the pit.

in response to post #1 you are on the money except for one thing. i think gangs like FSU have been around for the 15 years or so that ive been in the scene. the most disturbing thing about that is that alot of times a venue's security helps incite the violence instead of taking every single one of those punk asses and kicking them out at the first instance of violence. there are very few bands in the hardcore/metal scene that actually want people getting hurt at their shows (when you knock someone down, help them up, the pit is not the place to prove your manhood, seriously). I guess everyone just needs to use common sense and have a good time. enjoy the music. if your not there for the music than dont show up. join your local boxing club or something b/c when senseless violence happens at shows everyone loses. it is pointless, ignorant, and basically just sucks.
