Otep Reveal Dates For Fan-Generated Tour

Ahead of their upcoming album, Otep have set out on what is said to be the first fan-generated tour. The Los Angeles-based quartet teamed with Eventful--a website that allows users to share event information--to take votes (or demands) for the Ascension Tour, which supports Otep's March 2007 release, "The_Ascension." The US cities with the most votes made it onto the tour itinerary, listed below.
Fans can also help determine the band's set list by voting for songs via cell phone during select shows, according to a press release.
"The_Ascension" is Otep's fourth release, and follows following 2004's "House of Secrets." A selection of songs from the new album is streaming at Otep's MySpace page.
"The strength of this album is sexier and more seductive, but is still just as powerful and emotional as our live shows," the group's Otep Shamaya said in a statement. The band's namesake provides the creative heart and powerful female vocals behind the aggressive metal outfit.
When Otep first formed, they impressed Sharon Osbourne enough to land a spot on the Ozzfest tour in 2001. Based on their live performance at the fest, Capitol records signed them without a demo. Last year, the hard-touring band headlined the Alliance of Defiance tour, sharing the bill with bloodsimple, Candiria and the Autumn Offering.
Here are the currently confirmed Otep tour dates:
December 5 - Cleveland, OH - Peabody's
December 6 - Detroit, MI - Saint Andrew's Hall/Shelter
December 7 - Mokena, IL - The Pearl Room
December 8 - Kansas City, MO - The Grand Emporium
